Ahhh … spring.
It has sprung.
Spring. The poets’ muse for centuries. It has inspired
such masterpieces as Emily Dickinson’s “A Light Exists
in Spring,” William Wadsworth’s “Daffodils”
and A.E. Houseman’s “Loveliest of Trees.”
Spring. Nature lovers revel in its aspects, and
wordsmiths turn their observations into lyrical
works of art.
Today, I want to lay the foundation of a poem
– to provide the building blocks, so to speak – yet
leave the ode in its rudimentary stages so that, in
your mind’s eye, you can fashion your own personal
verse. I’ll take the individual letters of the
word – S-P-R-I-N-G – and present them as an
unarranged bouquet for you to assemble.
