Small gripes boil over with online cooks

By: Sallie Rose Hollis

Hear ye, hear ye! This is the second installment in what may become a series: Sallie Rose’s Curmudgeonly Columns.

Or Sallie Rose’s Cantankerous Columns. Or her Crotchety Columns. Take your pick.

In December I penned “Common sense packs bags; quirks abide.” In that missive, I waxed an elephant – a delightfully twisted phrase – about everything I could think of that had been irritating me: people who don’t dim their lights while driving at night, people talking loudly on their cellphones amongst the vegetables in the grocery store, people violently shaking cans in cooking videos instead of just using a spatula to remove the contents … You get the picture.

Regarding the last item – cooking videos – I suppose one could say, “Well, SR, just stop watching those confounded videos, and then you won’t be irritated.” But, sadly, so far that has not happened. I still watch them, often with the same irritation. But now, I think I’ve got a solution.
