Rev. Richard Edward Hinkle I

Rev. Richard Edward Hinkle I, 87, of Marion, Louisiana, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, departed from this world on Sunday, July 14, 2024. A celebration of Rev. Hinkle’s life will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville, Louisiana at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Richard Hinkle, II officiating.

Born on October 4, 1936 in Murphysboro, Illinois, Rev. Hinkle, the son of Woodrow and Maxine Hinkle, was raised in Jackson, Michigan where he attended high school. He enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served our country. He trained as a paratrooper before being deployed to fight in the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Nancy Frasher, on base in 1955 and together they raised their three children in his hometown. Rev. Hinkle was a licensed minister with the United Pentecostal Church International for 36 years. He obtained his Bachelor of Theology from Apostolic Bible Institute. Continuing his ministry, he founded a church in Claire, Michigan and served for many years before retiring to Florida. He was a devout Christian, both in word and deed, and touched the lives of so many around him.

Rev. Hinkle is preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Wilson Hinkle; mother, Maxine Mildred Hinkle; and sister, Jennifer Adeline Hinkle. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Hinkle of Marion, Louisiana; siblings, David Hinkle (Kathy) and Joy Johnston (Larry); and children, Eva Braxton (Russ) of Winter Park, Florida, Rev. Richard Edward Hinkle, II of Marion, Louisiana, and Keeli Young (Mark) of Altamonte Springs, Florida.

The legacy he leaves behind includes grandchildren, Justin Seiffert (Elizabeth), Jennifer Willis (Rev. Calvin), Rev. Jared Seiffert (Alison), April Hayman, Cheryl Hinkle, Jordan Hinkle (Magena), Jamie Clause (David), Alyssa Roach (Moses), Adrianna Norris, Whitney Norris, and Stuart Norris (Jessica); 27 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews who adored him.

All who knew him spoke of his contagious smile, his kind eyes, and his infectious humor. He never met a stranger and would light up any room he was in with his jokes, stories, and discussions about the bible. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather which he lived out daily. His legacy of faith, loyalty, family, and laughter will be forever remembered.
