Property Taxes Supply Only Part of Union Parish Road Funding
Audit shows substantial support from other revenues and transfers; fuel taxes reach parish through state formula
As Union Parish voters consider the proposed road tax, the Police Jury’s financial records show that dedicated property taxes provide only part of the money supporting parish road maintenance and construction.
The parish’s 2025 audit reports approximately $5.29 million in combined revenue and transfers into its Road Maintenance and Road Construction funds. Of that amount, approximately $2 million came from the two dedicated road property taxes. The remaining $3.28 million, or about 62 percent, came from other revenue accounts and transfers from other parish funds.
