LJ Laster

Funeral services for Mr. LJ Laster, age 96 of Crossroads, LA, were held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 20, 2024at Crossroads Baptist Church with Bro. Jeff Freeman officiating. Burial followed at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.

LJ served in the Navy during WWII and retired from IMC in Sterlington, LA. He was a founding member of the Louisiana Cattleman Association and was very active in meetings and organizational events. LJ was a lifelong member of Crossroads Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, raising cattle, gardening, working in the yard and helping people. He most of all loved serving the Lord and helping people. LJ was a wonderful person that touched many people’s hearts during his long life of almost 97 years. 

LJ was preceded in death by his wife, Tommie Rogers Laster; his parents, William “Shady” Laster and Mittie Ann Armstrong; his brothers, Aubrey and William Laster; sister, Mary Ellen Laster Miller; brother-in-law, Jimmy Rogers; sister-in-law, Merle Rogers Hodge; nieces, Judy Tucker Strickland and Vickie Hodge; and nephews, Gary Tucker, Barry Tucker, Andy Nolan, and Ty Mckinnie.

He is survived by his nieces, Jane Laster, Anita Laster, Ann Nolan Easterling, Brenda Nolan Thomason, Penny Mckinnie, Ashlee Rogers Holmes, and Pam Hodge Smith; nephews, Tommy Laster, Wayne Laster, Keith Laster, Terry Laster, Kenneth Nolan, Brian Rogers, Jimmy Rogers, Mike Hodge, and Phil Hodge; brother-in-law, Aubrey Hodge; and numerous great and great great nieces and nephews. 

Serving as pallbearers were Keith Laster, Kevin Brantley, Justin Brantley, Rusty Hodge, Phil Hodge, and Royce Temple.

Visitation was held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, January 19, 2024 at Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville, LA.
