LETLOW WINS GOP SENATE NOMINATION; FLEMING EMERGES WITH POLITICAL STRENGTH INTACT

Congresswoman Advances to November General Election While State Treasurer Demonstrates Enduring Conservative Support

Congresswoman Julia Letlow captured the Republican nomination for the United States Senate after defeating Louisiana State Treasurer John Fleming in one of the state’s most closely watched Republican contests in recent years. The victory sends Letlow into the November general election against Democratic nominee Jamie Davis, where she enters the race as the favorite.

According to unofficial election returns, Letlow received approximately 57 percent of the Republican vote while Fleming earned approximately 43 percent. Although the margin was decisive, the election also demonstrated that Fleming continues to command broad support among Louisiana conservatives while remaining the state’s incumbent Treasurer.
