The Union Parish Chamber of Commerce held its annual awards banquet Thursday night, May 28, before a capacity crowd as business leaders, elected officials, community leaders and citizens gathered for one of the parish’s premier annual events.
Featured speakers for the evening included United States House Speaker Mike Johnson of Shreveport, Louisiana Supreme Court Justice Jay B. McCallum of Farmerville, and Michael Popowycz, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Case Farms, one of the largest employers in Union Parish.
Speaker Johnson discussed current events in Washington, key elements of the United States Constitution, and the importance of religious faith and moral principles in the nation’s founding. Justice McCallum served as master of ceremonies, while Popowycz discussed Case Farms’ acquisition of the former Foster Farms operation and the company’s commitment to Union Parish.
