Rev. Hank Hamilton

Hello friends. Most of us own a Bible … or 2. And most of us have a Devotional book as well. This Devotional “lesson” was posted by.one of our dearest congressional members a few weeks ago. Hebrews 12:1 “Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.”

Many times, we need a prayer request answered. AND Sometimes, we have friend in need of solace. Hopefully we are pursuing that same “peace with all people” for ourselves, as well. Pray that this message brings the peace that only God/ Jesus can give us. John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

R e f l e c t i o n Have you ever received news that felt like the end of your story? One moment Hezekiah was leading a nation, the next he was facing death, turning his face to the wall as tears became his only prayer. The prophet’s words still hung in the air: ‘Put your house in order.’ Final. Devastating. Hopeless. But between his tears and heaven’s answer was only a courtyard’s distance. Before Isaiah could even leave the palace grounds, God stopped him with words that would change everything: ‘I have heard your prayer; I see your tears. I am with you.’ Don’t miss the tenderness here. The God who commands armies of angels notices tears. The One who holds the universe together pauses for a broken heart. He doesn’t just see—He responds. He doesn’t just hear—He moves. No committee meetings in heaven, no lengthy deliberations. Just pure love answering pain. Maybe you’re facing your own impossible today. Let this truth sink deep: the same God who noticed Hezekiah’s tears is noticing yours. Your tears aren’t wasted. Your prayers aren’t ignored. Between your pain and His comforting response might only be a courtyard’s distance. Ask Yourself What burden can I pour out to God today, trusting that He hears and cares? Is there a prayer I have given up on, that I need to bring before God again?

Prayer of the Day

Dear Father, Some days my heart is so heavy that words fail me, and tears are my only prayer. Thank You for catching every one of them. Thank You for meeting me in my brokenness, even when my prayers are messy and my emotions are raw. Today, I bring You my deepest hurts, trusting that You not only hear my cries but hold my heart. Help me rest in the truth that You are already working, even when I can’t see it. Thank You for loving me always. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Quote of the Day “Our prayers may be awkward. Our attempts may be feeble. But since the power of prayer is in the One who hears it and not in the one who says it, our prayers do make a difference.” — Max Lucado

The Outcome of the Thorn ~ 2 Corinthians 12:7-10

In today’s scripture, Paul describes a thorn in the flesh, a suffering that came to him by God’s own hand. In verses 1-6, Paul describes being called up into Paradise to see and hear things he was not permitted to repeat.

Because of what God allowed him to experience, because of his heavenly vision and experience, God gave Paul a thorn of suffering to keep him in a place of humility, to keep him from exalting himself.

We aren’t told exactly what this thorn is, but we will focus on its outcome. Paul expresses that this painful, tormenting thorn was a valuable addition to his life. He had come to eventually accept the thorn because of its purpose in his life.

Paul asked God three times to remove this figurative thorn in his side, but deliverance did not come. The humility resulting from his suffering allowed Paul to know more fully the grace and power of God in his life.

It is oftentimes life’s most difficult experiences that lead us to know God’s grace, power and strength. God’s grace doesn’t lead to salvation alone. It also provides the power in our weakness that allows us to not only endure, but to be content in whatever circumstance we find ourselves.

Why did Paul use the imagery of a thorn to describe his suffering? Maybe it was because of the thorn-crown that adorned the brow of his Savior on the day He suffered torment for the sin of the world. That day, Jesus bore the wrath of the Father so that we could know the grace and forgiveness of God.

Pastor Bubba Hoggatt

Mike brought our special music this morning, the uplifting “He Saw it All”.

Bro. Bubba’s message was based on the parable of the marriage feast. Matthew 22: 1-

14. Jesus Likened it to the Kingdom of Heaven. The king was giving a marriage feast for his son. When the feast was ready, he sent servants to tell the invited guests. They refused to come. He then sent the servants to invite everyone else. The invited guests represented the Jewish people. Jesus came to them first and was rejected. The others who came were the Gentiles, all who were not Jews. God loves all people, Jew and Gentile. He wants all people to come to know Jesus as their savior and spend eternity in Heaven with him. There was one who showed up at the wedding feast who was not covered with the wedding garment. This represents those who expect their works, wealth, or something else to save them. Only faith in Jesus, God Son, and the blood shed at Calvary will save them. There is no other way for salvation. The saved are the Bride of Christ and will spend eternity in Heaven with Him.

John 10:9 – I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. However, some of the saddest words spoken by the LORD … many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able. When once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open for us,’ and HE will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know you … Luke 13:22-29.

The ‘door’ can close due to age. Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, before the difficult days come … Ecclesiastes 12:1. Youth is a time one is searching for life’s answers, so do not hold these back. Hearts can harden over time. Bring them to Jesus, while they are still young. However, do not pressure children before God has spoken to them, or else they may later become confused as to whether they were truly saved. We all should come as a little child; merely by understanding Jesus died for our sins, and receiving His salvation for oneself.

The ’door’ can close due to something happening causing one to become emotionally disabled, possibly through an accident or an injury or sickness, I.e. a stroke. If one waits, anything can happen causing it to be too late. And of course, the ‘door’ can close due to death. Death can come at any time, at any age. God decides when the door closes. It is up to us to be ready! Where will you spend Eternity?
