Changing & Unchanging — God is unchanging. Both Malachi 3:6 and Hebrews 13:8 declare that God is the same – always and never ever changes. (Jesus Christ; the same yesterday, and today, and forever)
However, as humans, we do change… emotionally, spiritually and yes physically. No matter how the world changes around us; we can trust that God has “The Plan”. Everything God allows to happen has a purpose; including the seasons of our lives. “There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven…” Ecclesiastes 3:1
Isaiah 40:28 “Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God. As long as the earth remains, the cycles of nature will continue as God had designed them.”
But, “It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority” Acts 1:7 Knowing that we are not “in charge” and that our earthly years will end; we must trust in God’s perfect timing as we pass through the seasons of our own lives.
Life may not always be easy. We may encounter any number of pleasing or upsetting, distressing, scary, depressing, heartbreaking moments. So.., we must keep the promise of eternal life in our hearts and live an earthly life deserving of God’s grace. Because… IT IS ONLY “by the grace of God” that we will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Matthew 24:36 and Mark 13:32: “But concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”
As to the changes in our lives – we will need to persevere and be reminded to look forward to an eternal life with a self-promise to (in-the-meantime) ‘take care of ourselves” and to love one another fully – without regret.
And to be the loving servant to others as Jesus was to us. Matthew 20:28 “… just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” To emphasize the importance of serving one another; the gospels repeat that example in Mark 10:45. Philippians 2:4 tells us; “not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of others”
So, as we go through & grow through our life ‘events’ … the hardships, the happy times, the scary times & the sad moments; let us be thankful, daily, for the blessings (large and small) that are bestowed upon us. “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 Colossians 3:15: “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts… And be thankful.”

Pastoring a church can be a very rewarding calling, but it can also involve a lot of challenges, struggles, disappointments and heartbreaks.
In today’s Scripture, Paul is feeling all the difficulties that come with a pastor’s heart. He is combating false teachings in a church that was once so strong.
One of the things these false teachers did was downplay Paul and his ministry by exalting and bragging on themselves.
So Paul left his comfort zone, laying out the lashings, the whippings, the stoning, the hunger, the robberies, the imprisonments, and a host of other serious hardships that he had endured for spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
What Paul was pointing out to them wasn’t his human frailty and weakness, but the strength of Christ in his life.
How could Paul endure all the hardships day after day and not quit? The Gospel of Jesus Christ was his calling and his passion. It was who God had made him to be.
Paul was a product of God’s grace, with a passion for the Gospel, who lived a Christ-like life every day. May our lives also reflect Christ living in us.

Genesis 4 – the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? … If you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.” HOWEVER, … Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him.
Anger in itself is not a sin; it is how we deal with the anger. Or how it deals with us! He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city – Proverbs 16:32.
Jesus reprimanded his disciples of their feelings toward others (Luke 9:51-56).
Righteous anger is not sin. Jesus expressed anger when HE went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple … And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’ ” – Matthew 21:12- 13. Being angry over the death of children, abuse, etc. those are forms of righteous anger. But we are to let God deal with it.
Uncontrollable anger; however, is a sign of weakness! Rather than be angry with those, who have hurt us or those we love, we are to forgive. We must forgive others, that we may be forgiven by God. Pray for those who have hurt you, as Jesus prayed, Father forgive them … Forgiving means “letting go”; pardoning someone for what they have done. That is NOTHING compared to what God has forgiven us! Jesus can change a heart of anger, to a heart of love, if you ask Him!
