Rev. Hank Hamilton

Good Morning. We hope and pray that everyone was impressed by God’s very own fireworks display last Saturday night, the 4th of July. We hope and pray, also, that no one was hurt by that mighty display.

Psalm 93:4 “Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea— the Lord on high is mighty.” Psalm 147:5 “Great is our Lord and mighty in power;

While we celebrated America’s 250th Birthday in children’s Sunday School, we discussed how not only is God’s power mighty; but He is also our protector. We discussed also how America’s Armed Forces(and First Responders) are our earthly protectors. We read the oath that is taken by them — a commitment to protecting.

I (state your name) do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. So help me God. Even our earthly defenders know that we need God. Our Bibles tell us that God will always be that faithful defender for us.

2 Thessalonians 3:3 – «But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.» Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Psalm 119:114 You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word. Psalm 121:7-8 – «The Lord will keep you from all evil; He will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in.»

Proverbs 18:10 – «The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.»

Closing Prayerr… asking God to protect us from the temptations of sin — let us not be ‘tripped up’ by Satan’s plans: Psalm 140:4 “Keep me safe, LORD, from the hands of the wicked; protect me from the violent, who devise ways to trip my feet.”

Pastor Bubba Hoggatt

The choir began our worship service with the patriotic song “God Bless America”. Bro. Bubba spoke on the sovereignty of God in the founding of America, Romans: 13:

1. God founded America so we can evangelize the world. For the most part, we have done that When we fail, our nation fails. America is held together by Jesus. All things are held together by Jesus. God is the possessor of providence, future or destiny, of all things. God is involved in every aspect of our lives. There is none like Him. Nothing surprises God. God‘s presence is in the providence of our lives and our nation. We were founded for a purpose.

Isaiah41: 10-12. The founding fathers had a two hour prayer meeting before they began to write the guidelines of our country. Roger Sherman, signer of the Declaration, said the Bible was consulted more than any other volume. During the Revolution, there are many victories for the Patriots that were only possible because of Divine intervention. God‘s purpose is always to reveal himself to people, “that they may know that I am God”. Our nation is not about prosperity, but about revealing God. We must each make a decision. Are we going to be good man that do nothing and let our nation die. Or, are we going to live for Jesus? T h i s evening we enjoyed a time of fellowship and celebration of 250 years of God‘s hand on our great nation. We had delicious homemade ice cream and watermelons, followed by beautiful fireworks.

Second Kings 17:5-41 – Israel, God’s Chosen People, fell to the ways of heathen nations. Sound familiar? The United States, U.S.A., may not yet have fallen, but are we headed that way?

Israel rebelled against God – became idolaters, and went after the nations who were all around them, concerning whom the Lord had charged them that they should not do like them. So, they left all the commandments of the Lord their God … The kind of nation, church, people, shows we watch, what we worship, shows where our heart lies.

Today, people look to the stars instead of the Morning Star. They worship sports, success, etc. like the nations God told us not to follow. We may not – cause their sons and daughters to pass through the fire, but millions are killed each year through abortion. Children are abused, sold, etc. Sin is paraded down the streets.

God has been so good to the U.S.A., yet we throw our sins in His face. We follow pagan laws – removing prayer as well as the Ten Commandments from public schools. If God would reject His people – But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, so that HE will not hear (Isaiah 59:2), surely, HE will reject us. (God is so Holy, HE turned His back on Jesus, as HE bore our sins on the cross.)

God is our only Hope; our only Threat! What will America have to pay? The cure is Revival from God! Turn from your evil ways, and keep My commandments and My statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers …
