Sunday was Father’s Day and
a blessed day at Dean Baptist
Church. All Father’s were honored,
along with Copper Towns
as the youngest father and Jerry
Owens the oldest father. We
are thankful for all the Father’s
that were in attendance.
Sunday School attendance is
holding steady, even with several
out. We had a few vistors
and we would like to invite you
to join us next Sunday.
Alyssa Pitts provided our special
music. Cooper Towns
filled in for Bro Aleck. He had
an inspiring message for Father’s.
We were excited to have
Cooper and his family with us
Sunday.

Rev. Hank Hamilton
Hello, all.. We hope that earthly
fathers were honored and
spoiled on Father’s Day last
Sunday. And we hope that
you – we – remember that the
Greatest Father Of All Time
(the GOAT) is God in heaven
- the Father of us all.
Speaking of fathers and us
being children of God…If we
love the Lord and if we raise
our children in His word; they
most likely will turn out to be
fine upstanding young men and
women… contributing members
of society. “Train up a
child in the way he should go;
even when he is old he will not
depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
We are being greatly blessed
with Dads (and Moms) who are
training up their young ones in
The Word of God. And we are
doubly blessed that their children
are sharing their musical
talents with the congregation to
the glory of God. These children
are definitely following
in the footsteps of Jesus, their
fathers (and moms). Many
thanks to Kendal Doucet, Violet
Hamilton, Alec Jagodnik
and Austin Grier.
“Hear, my son, your father’s
instruction, and forsake not
your mother’s teaching.”
Proverbs 1:8
“You shall teach them diligently
to your children (God’s
words & Commandments), and
shall talk of them when you sit
in your house, and when you
walk by the way, and when you
lie down, and when you rise.”
Deuteronomy 6:7
Dads and Moms; “Show yourself
in all respects to be a model
of good works, and in your
teaching show integrity, dignity.”
Titus 2:7
“And how from childhood you
have been acquainted with the
sacred writings, which are able
to make you wise for salvation
through faith in Christ Jesus.”
2 Timothy 3:15
“Let your light shine before
men in such a way that they
may see your good works, and
glorify your Father who is in
heaven. Matthew 5:16
“Oh give thanks to the Lord,
for he is good, for his steadfast
love endures forever!” Psalm
107:1 “Giving thanks always
and for everything to God the
Father in the name of our Lord
Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 5:20
… Most especially our young
ones!
“And above all these put on
love, which binds everything
together in perfect harmony.”

Jesus calls God’s people to be
witnesses, to be the “salt and
light” of the world. He encourages
them to go influence those
around them, Jew and Gentile
(non-Jewish) alike.
In Matthew 5:17-19, Jesus also
tells the crowd that He did not
come to abolish the Law but to
fulfill it. He says the Law will
not pass away until it accomplishes
all it was set to do, and
that anyone who alters any part
of the Law, and teaches others
to do so, will be the least in the
kingdom of God.
God’s Word tells us in Galatians
3:24 that the purpose of
the Law is to show us our need
for a Saviour and to point us to
Christ. That’s what He meant
about fulfilling the Law.
The Jewish religion erroneously
thought the purpose of
the Law was following the 10
Commandments, being “good
enough,” and constantly accomplishing
religious tasks
that proved they were “good”.
The religious leaders, especially,
were a very self-righteous
group.
Then in Matthew 5:20, Jesus
says something shocking. He
tells the crowd that unless their
righteousness exceeds that of
their religious leaders, they
will not enter into the kingdom
of Heaven. It was a pointed
condemnation of the religious
elite and their teachings.
The only way anyone can enter
Heaven is to recognize he is
NOT good enough and to trust
in God’s provision of Jesus as
his substitute. Jesus paid for
our sin on the Cross.
No one gets to Heaven by being
good. In fact, there will
be no good people in Heaven;
only bad people who realize
they are helpless in their sin
and who have cried out to God
for grace.
We can’t be good enough to
earn our way into Heaven. We
can’t catch God’s attention or
earn His forgiveness by our
actions. We bring nothing to
the table other than our plea for
forgiveness. Have mercy upon
me a sinner, Oh God! Praise
God for his grace and His mercy
through Jesus Christ our
Lord and Saviour! Amen!

Pastor Bubba Hoggatt
Today, as we celebrated fathers,
our Ladies Ensemble sign the
beautiful “ Faith of Our Fathers”.
Although God is
the only perfect father, Bro.
Bubba pointed out five marks
of a Godly man.
1) Disposition I Thessalonians
2:7.
A Godly father should be gentle
in discipline of his children.
A masculine man can be stern,
yet gentle to others, especially
his children.
2) Denial I Thessalonians 2:8.
A Godly man and father realizes
it’s not always about him.
Many times his family should
come first.
3) Devotion. I Thessalonians
2: 9.
Paul focused on teaching the
gospel, the Word of God. That
should be the number one priority
of dads. They should also
be taught responsibility and
labor. This is taught by the example
the dad sets.
4). Demonstration. 1 Thessalonians
2:10.
Dads must model what they
say, or they won’t be heard.
Sometimes, the only gospel
your children read is you?
5). Defender. I Thessalonians.
2: 11.
A Godly father encourages his
children. The Holy Spirit exhorts,
comfort, and encourages.
A father should do the same.
6) Destination 1 Thessalonians
2: 12.
The greatest desire of a Godly
father is that his children know
God and live Godly life

Ephesians 5:25-6:4: Husbands,
love your wives, just as Christ
also loved the church and gave
Himself for her. A good husband
should be as strong as
steel and as soft as velvet.
He is a provider. But if anyone
does not provide for his
own, and especially for those
of his household, he has denied
the faith and is worse than an
unbeliever – First Timothy 5:8.
He provides openness, honesty,
trust, which are important
for a good marriage. He should
express his love emotionally
and spiritually, even more than
materially. Careers should not
replace family time. Fathers,
children would rather have
time than things.
He is a protector. He should be
the ‘spiritual umbrella’, protecting
from harsh language.
And NEVER strike your wife!
Husbands, let your wife know
she is special to you! Be considerate
– quick to hear and
slow to speak. Always let family
know you are approachable.
Talk everything out, for conversation
is important! Treat
your wife like a lady and never
criticize publicly; wives, do
not criticize husband publicly,
either. Do not compare unfavorably
to others.
He is to be a pointer, pointing
family to Jesus! Husbands/
Dads, your family will follow
the way you are pointing. If
your life is pointing them toward
Heaven, they should follow
that direction. These things
I have written to you who believe
in the name of the Son of
God, that you may know that
you have eternal life – First
John 5:13. We will spend Eternity
somewhere. Spiritual Daddy,
lead your children to Jesus
by prayer, reading God’s Word,
teaching Godly principles, etc.
The man is the ‘priest’ of the
family, pointing family to Jesus.
