Pastor Bubba Hoggatt

The choir special today was the uplifting song “Jerusalem”.

Bro. Bubba‘s message today was about examining ourselves to see what kind of Christian we are. Isaiah 46: 9, 10.

Isaiah 40: 12-31. W h e n people come to Jesus and become Christians not all are as obedient and devout as others. Some love Jesus, more than others. A Christian’s view of God, affects their service and devotion. Though in God, a Christian is capable of doing anything a lost person can do except go to hell. In Isaiah, he saw the holiness of God and it set his heart on fire. Jesus humbled himself and endured the cross for us.

He deserves our complete devotion and service.

Psalm 27: The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? Whether suddenly startled or deeply frightened from within, fear often seizes our heart. As Franklin D. Roosevelt stated in facing the Great Depression – “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself”. Everyone fears something, whether it be the dark, crowds, water, height, etc.; it is caused by different things. The September 11 attack terrorized us; we will never forget the fear that gripped Americans. Biochemical warfare is also a reality, i.e. anthrax. First Peter 5:8 reminds us your adversary, the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

When fearful, focus on Who strengthens our heart. Do not look around; look up! Isaiah 6:1 – I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up … Isaiah reminds us to focus on the “One”, who sits on the throne in Heaven. Dark times will come in our soul, but God will be our Light! HE is our salvation! Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness – Psalm 112:4. Fear paralyzes us, robbing us of the peace and joy Jesus came to give. Let us cast our burdens on the LORD for HE is our stronghold in times of troubles. Spending time in prayer will strengthen your heart.

Faith can settle your heart. Faith creates an absence of fearfulness. Second Timothy 1:12 – for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day. Do you believe this? No matter what comes, look to God and do not be afraid.
