Rev. Hank Hamilton
Hello all. We would love to
have you come worship with
us. Added to our already
faithful worship service with
sermon & song is the beautiful
music on our newest musical
instrument… a Grand Piano.
AND in addition to this awesome
congregational gift to
Farmerville Methodist Church
is the resurgence of individuals
singing solos with their
instrument of choice; guitars –
piano, etc. One of our youngest
church members played
a piano solo!! All ages are
volunteering to participate in
worship service. We are most
thankful for this willingness
to personally & publicly be so
intimately involved in our worship
services.
This IS the love of Christ exemplified.
“because He first
loved us.” 1 John 4:19
As we enter this Lenten season,
we want to stay focused on
God’s love for us… and share
that love with others.
Jeremiah 31:3 “The Lord appeared
to him from far away.
I have loved you with an everlasting
love; therefore I have
continued my faithfulness to
you.” Jeremiah is reminding
the people that God truly
showed up throughout their
history. It’s a comforting reminder
of God’s eternal affection
for His people… all of
us who believe, trust and love
Him. The phrase “everlasting
love” signifies a love that is not
bound by time. It means that
God’s commitment to loving
us is not just a fleeting emotion
but a steadfast promise.
Paul echoed this truth for every
believer: “Neither death nor
life… will be able to separate
us from the love of God” Romans
8:38-39.
God, in His infinite compassion,
calls out to us. He sent
His son Jesus to us to remind us
that God wants a relationship
with us… “No one can come to
Me unless the Father who sent
Me draws him.” John 6:4. Listen
for God’s voice to speak to
your heart. There you will find
your peace and purpose. Read
and study His word.
“I will be your God and you
will be My people” Leviticus
26:12. We have never been
alone and Jeremiah 31:3 anchors
hope in three linked realities:
God truly appeared, He
eternally loves, and He actively
draws us to Him.
God’s unwavering, profound
enduring love motivates His
relentless pursuit of us; hopefully
bringing us into the family
of God and thus securing us
a grace-filled earthly future and
eventually everlasting life .
Would it be that we love as
fiercely and as faithfully as
does God. Come worship with
us and feel His love

“The Desire to Please the
Lord” ~ II Corinthians 5:9-15
Last week we discussed how,
for the Christian, standing
before the Judgement Seat
of Christ will be a time of reward,
not something to dread.
And lest we get the wrong
idea, those rewards won’t be
trophies to show off. No, they
won’t be about us at all. Our
rewards in heaven will be all
about the glory of God and His
work through us.
In II Corinthians 5:9, Paul says
our desire is to please God. His
desire to do so is so strong, that
he risks his safety and his very
life to spread the gospel, to establish
and encourage churches.
Why would he do this?
First, Paul has a very clear understanding
of who God is. He
speaks in verse 11 of the fear
of the Lord, which denotes absolute
reverence for God. Paul
is in total awe of God, and sees
himself as nothing in comparison.
Paul isn’t hung up on his own
accomplishments or desires;
the entirety of his life revolves
around his Lord. Everything he
has in this world and in his future
eternal state, Paul rightfully
credits to the Lord. The entirety
of his identity is wrapped
up in glory to God.
Secondly, Paul understands
God’s desire for His Church.
Remember God totally
changed the direction of Paul’s
life when He called him on the
road to Damascus. Paul went
from persecutor of Christians
to an evangelist reaching the
lost, planting churches, and
disciplining and making disciples
of believers.
Paul desired to please God by
investing in the Church, no
matter the cost. He understood
that the Church is God’s prized
possession and the future Bride
of Christ. It is worthy of great
effort and devotion.
May it be so with each of us.
May we be a body of believers
worthy of God’s redemption
and grace, reaching the lost,
loving one another, forgiving
one another, and serving one
another. May we be a Church
and individual Christians who
are pleasing to the Lord.
For His glory.

Pastor Bubba Hoggatt
Jessie brought our special music
today, “ Jesus the Shepherd
of my Soul”.
Bro. Bubba’s message was
“All Things to all Men” 1 Corinthians
9:19-23.
How far will you go to show
Jesus to the world? You don’t
have to be in worldly activities
to reach lost people for Jesus,
but you do have to be where
they are. An example of this
would be a boat that is floating
on water. There is no problem
unless water gets in the boat.
Christ went where sinners were
to reach them. We must do the
same, just not take on the sins
of the world. We cannot separate
ourselves from lost people
and be an effective witness.
1) Compelled by Compassion.
1 Corinthians 9.:19.
If we really love people, we
will do whatever it takes to
show them the love of Jesus ,
and that he died for their sins.
The apostle Paul completely
changed his lifestyle when
he was saved. He went from
wealth and high status in the
community to being beaten,
stoned, and imprisoned, to be
able to see others saved. He
was compelled by love and
compassion.
2) Happy by Humility 1 Corinthians
9:20-22.
How happy are you when you
have to humble yourself?
Sometimes we must humble
ourselves to people with
a know it all attitude to win
them. Until they know you
care, they don’t care what you
know. Love compels us to
reach out to those who don’t
know Christ. 3) Power by
Purpose. 1 Corinthians 9:23.
Our purpose on earth is to be a
witness for Christ. We are to do
whatever it
takes.

Psalm 23:4: Yea, though I walk
through the valley of the shadow
of death, I will fear no evil;
For You are with me; Your rod
and Your staff, they comfort
me. Fear is one of the most debilitating
experiences we can
have. From where do Christians
get their strength, when
they face death; life?
The Valley of the Shadow of
Death connects Jerusalem to
Jericho. David, referring to
this valley, notes it is a place
to pass through. We will not
stay in valleys, though it may
take days, weeks, months, even
years to get through; however,
we will get thru. Such as the
valleys of life – from birth to
death.
A shadow of death is merely
an image of itself. For bornagain
Christians, we do not
die, but merely pass from this
life into Heaven to be with Jesus.
Throughout Scripture, we
are encouraged to “Fear Not”!
David is reminding us God’s
presence is with us – You are
with me. Sheep never go
through the valleys alone and
neither do we. Our Shepherd
is always with us. Talk to Him,
expressing your need: Hebrews
13:6 – The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear. What can man
do to me?”
The Holy Spirit is the ‘rod’
that protects the ‘sheep’, separating
them from the wolves.
The shepherd’s staff is used
to guide the sheep, protecting
them from falls and restoring
them to the flock. Our ‘staff’
is the Word of God, keeping us
on the straight and narrow. We
do not know what the future
holds, but our “Shepherd’ will
walk with us through whatever
it may be.
