Rev. Hank Hamilton
Last Sunday was the First
Sunday of Advent. What is
Advent?
Advent is a Christian season
that lasts for four weeks leading up to Christmas, beginning
on the Sunday closest to (or on)
November 30th and ending on
December 24th. It is a time of
anticipation and preparation
for the celebration of the birth
of Jesus Christ. It is also a period of reflection on his promised return.
Hebrews 9:27-28 Just as
people are destined to die
once, and after that to face
judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the
sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear
sin, but to bring salvation to
those who are waiting for him.
Matthew 24:36 But about that
day or hour no one knows, not
even the angels in heaven, nor
the Son, but only the Father.
Revelation 1:7 “Look, he is
coming with the clouds, and
“every eye will see him, even
those who pierced him”; and
all peoples on earth “will
mourn because of him.” So
shall it be! Amen.”
John 14:1–3 “Let not your
hearts be troubled. Believe in
God; believe also in Me. In
my Father’s house are many
rooms. If it were not so, would
I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I
go and prepare a place for you,
I will come again and will take
you to myself, that where I am
you may be also.”
God is Good all the Time – All
the Time, God is Good. Nahum 1:7 The Lord is good, a
refuge in times of trouble. He
cares for those who trust in
him. 1 Chronicles 16:34 Give
thanks to the Lord, for he is
good; his love endures forever.
Psalm 136:1 Give thanks to the
Lord, for he is good. His love
endures forever.
The Bible repeatedly tells us
that God is good—not just
in what He does, but in who
He is. His goodness is unchanging, perfect, and personal. Titus 3:4-5 But when the
kindness and love of God our
Savior appeared, he saved us.
God’s goodness is clearly seen
in the offer of salvation – offered through the human form
Himself – Jesus. Jesus was
born to show us “The Way” to
salvation. “Salvation is found
in no one else, for there is no
other name under heaven given
to mankind by which we must
be saved.” Acts 4:12
So, whether we’re in a season
of abundance or challenge, we
can hold onto the Advent truth
that God’s goodness surrounds
us every day and that He’s preparing a place for us in Heaven
and will come for us. Christ
Jesus will come to us a second
time… to collect the faithful.

Our special music today was a
beautiful duet by Jesse and her
mother Phyllis “He Hideth My
Soul”. Today we celebrated
the Lord‘s Supper which was
the topic of Bro. Bubba’s message. Deuteronomy 7: 10-19
is God’s covenant with his people. A covenant is an agreement
that one person makes with
another. If one person promises something then the other
promises something. God
promises his blessings if we
obey his Commandments. God
always keeps his promises. Do
we? Often believers serve God
when there isn’t anything else
to do 1). And Ever Relevant Principle. Are we
following his commandments?
Sometimes we make promises that are not heartfelt. Satan
will make it easier not to serve
with his distractions. It could
be our old sin nature. It could
be our family. It could be Godless people in our lives. 2).
An Egotistical Rebellious
People. Deuteronomy.
8:14. This is prideful and
self centered. We get prideful
saying, “ my success comes
from my work, my strength”.
We forget that God gives us all
our successes. When we go
our own way, we often neglect
gathering together, Bible study,
prayer, or evangelism. Sunday is the Lord’s day. 3).
Exacting Rehabing Pardon.
Deuteronomy.4:29. As frail
and unfaithful as we are, He
is always willing to forgive
if we come to him in repentance. Next
Sunday evening at 6 P. M. will
be our annual Hanging of the
Greens service. There will
be a tasting tea following the
service. Everyone is invited.
The Lottie moon Christmas
offering begins today. Our goal
is.$2800.

“Stage 4 cancer, pneumonia
in both lungs, 3 major G.I.
bleeds … God is still in the
healing business! God is not
through with me. ‘When you
understand God is never late,
you wait … differently.’”
When wondering about what
was happening and asking for
a word.” The word given was
‘Wait’!”
Ephesians 2:8-9 – For by grace
you have been saved through
faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of
God, not of works, lest anyone
should boast.
God has given us the gift
of life! And with it, we receive many gifts: We receive
“Grace” – God’s Riches at
Christ’s Expense. It is a gift we
do not deserve. We receive Salvation – Romans 6:23b the gift
of God is eternal life in Christ
Jesus our Lord. For by grace,
you have been saved through
Faith, it is a gift from God.
And the gift we can share is
our Works. I will show you
my faith by my works – James
2:18b. Working for God builds
our faith. God allows us opportunities to serve Him. It is
so easy to share what God has
done in our lives. We have no
excuse not to do so.
The best gift received with salvation is when we receive the
Holy Spirit. God gave us the
Holy Spirit to lead and guide
us, and convict us, when conviction is needed. When we
receive Him in our lives, we
receive the ‘Fruit of the Spirit’ – love, joy, peace, patience,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. HE saved us to serve. Let
us Share the Love of Christ
wherever we go!
