Q: Do we sometimes “get busy” and let
things slide to the back burner? Like
folks we know and love, but haven’t
spoken with/visited with in a while?
Sometimes in our histories, we have
forgotten a person or a group of people.
Sometimes we forget to honor our
military men and women, and other first
responders. Sometimes we’re “Johnnyon-
the-spot” with help, supplies and/or
money for victims of floods, fires, hurricanes,
etc. And after a bit, we go on
with life… forgetting that others’ needs
may be long lasting and that they might
need us still.
Q: Does God EVER forget us – forget
about our needs? NO! As always, we
should follow the example of Jesus in
striving every day to ‘remember’ others…
to help someone – encourage
someone. Proverbs 19:17 tells us that
the Lord will repay those who are generous
to the poor. But… not only must
we remember the poor as this verse says;
we must remember others who have
needs as well. Not all needs are based
on finances, hunger, housing or medical
situations. Sometimes a need can be met
with a call, a card or a hug. Philippians
2:4 “Let each of you look not only to his
own interests, but also to the interests of
others.” Galatians 6:2 “Carry each other’s
burdens, and in this way, you will
fulfill the law of Christ.”
Luke 6:38 “Give, and it will be given
to you. Good measure, pressed down,
shaken together, running over, will be
put into your lap. For with the measure
you use it will be measured back to you.”
Hebrews 10:24-25 “And let us consider
how we may spur one another on toward
love and good deeds, not giving up
meeting together, as some are in the habit
of doing, but encouraging one another—
and all the more as you see the Day
approaching.” And so, we gather… to
worship our Lord and Savior. We gather
to take food to the hungry, school supplies
to the needy, clothing and household
goods to the flood, fire, hurricane
victims we mentioned. We gather in
churches, in prayer circles to support one
another and to pray for strangers around
the globe. Matthew 18:20 “For where
two or three are gathered together in my
name, there am I in the midst of them.”
Though the ones we help may never be
able to repay us for our generosity, the
Lord can and will. Philippians 4:19
reads, “And my God will meet all your
needs according to the riches of his glory
in Christ Jesus.” This is a promise from
God that He will provide for all our
needs (not wants)… and not based on
our merits, but according to the bounty
of His glory and His mercy. God will
NOT forget us. Matthew 28:20 “And
behold, I am with you always, to the end
of the age.”

Joshua may have seen more of the supernatural
workings of God than any man
who ever lived. He walked through the
dry seabed of the Red Sea. He ate manna
and quail provided by God’s hand. He
walked around the walls of Jericho. He
saw God give victory after victory to
Israel. Joshua’s most famous utterance,
found in Joshua 24:14, came not long before
his death, “…But as for me and my
house, we will serve the Lord.” Most of
us would proclaim Joshua’s statement as
our own desire, and so did the Israelites.
“We will serve the Lord,” they cried,
confident and sure of their continuing
devotion to the God who had shown
them favor, who had poured out His
love and provision on them. There was
no other god who could stand against the
Lord their God! But their devotion and
commitment would sadly fade, as does
ours all too often. The false gods of this
world can draw us away. The gods of
pleasure, greed, entertainment, power,
knowledge, success, relaxation and satisfaction
can easily begin to lure us away
from our zeal and commitment to the
Lord. We can’t stay close to God, living
righteously in our own power. But when
we come to a saving, life-changing faith,
the Holy Spirit comes into our lives to
provide two things: 1) The seal of Jesus’
saving grace, and 2) The power to live
for God and experience the change He
desires in us.

Pastor Bubba Hoggatt
Jerry Mac lead the choir in a beautiful
arrangement of “ I see Grace”.
Brother Bubba‘s message was “Blessed
Assurance” part four. John 15. T w o
questions most people ask: Where did
we come from? Why are we here? God
is involved in our life throughout eternity.
God has created us for a purpose.
As a Christian, we are a branch attached
to Jesus Christ. We are expected to
bear fruit. We will show Jesus’ love by
the way we love others . If we abide in
Christ, we will show Love. To abide is
to stay somewhere all the time. To stay
steadfast in Christ takes discipline. To
stay anchored in God, we must stay in a
spiritual mindset. We don’t want to lose
opportunities to glorify God. The most
neglected part of Christian discipline
is prayer. Satan fights our prayer time.
He floods our minds with other things.
We must constantly stay in an attitude
of prayer. We can have this attitude, no
matter what we are doing, whether home
on the job or in recreation time. To abide
in Christ is to love others. We are to put
others before ourselves. Jesus says, “if
ye love me, keep my commandments”.
Christians, who have lost their fervor for
Christ have no joy, no peace, and are not
bringing forth fruit. When this happens,
it is because we neglect prayer, don’t
have love for other others, and don’t
obey His commandments. To repent and
receive his forgiveness is to regain joy.
As we become obedient to him again,
we will glorify God and bring others to
Him. Next Sunday evening we will
be celebrating 24 years of music ministry
and retirement of Jerry Mac. Come
and join in the festivities as we show
our appreciation for all his hard work
through the years.

Associate Pastor Stephen Murry
Acts 6 – Deacons make a great difference
in the church. As ‘peace-makers’,
men devoted to Christ, and in most cases,
his family will follow. The adversary
hates to see men take responsibility of
their family, as well as in their church
and community. However, Christ loves
to see men willing to stand for Him,
leading others to study His Word, being
an example for others. Like Joshua, As
for me and my house, we will serve the
LORD – Joshua 24:15.
Exemplary Christians: Lead by example,
their family, church, in prayer, Bible
Study, witnessing, etc. Their reputation
is in the hands of Christians. Encouraging
Christians: And let us consider one
another to provoke unto love and to
good works – Hebrews 10:24. Meeting
the needs of others: family, church members,
etc., caused the word of God (to)
spread, and the number of the disciples
(to) multiply. Engaging Christians – Get
involved in ministries in the church and
stay involved, in Christ’s name, meeting
the needs of the needy and hurting.
Enthusiastic Christians: exemplify liberating
joy. Enduring Christians: For
the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable
– Romans 11:29, have a lifetime
commitment. Revelation 2:10 – Be
faithful until death, and I will give you
the crown of life. We are to continue
to serve, no matter the size, no matter
the attendance, for we serve the King
of Kings. We serve until we are called
Home, so that we may hear these words,
‘Well done, good and faithful servant;
you were faithful over a few things, I
will make you ruler over many. Enter
into the joy of your Lord.’ – Matthew
25:21. We serve the LORD!
