Cathy Cashat Allen

Cathy graduated from Farmerville High School in 1969.  She was a licensed beautician and worked 16 years at CenturyTel at various positions.  She retired when Callie the second granddaughter came along and then started her real passion which was her love for her family and her animals. She spent so many days with her 4 granddaughters swimming, playing outside, watching ball games, and cooking for those girls. From the Belted cows, the horses, the donkeys, the geese, the ducks and most of all the Great Danes she loved them with all of her heart.

In 2001 a special friend, Loraine Rainwater, talked Cathy into showing Great Danes.  Ivey was purchased from her and that started 21 years of running all over the south showing Great Danes and gaining Championships for many of her Dogs.  Cathy loved this life and met many friends that she grew to love so dearly.  All of our Dogs were pets first and show dogs second.  There were many great moments and many great memories, however, the greatest highlights started recently when a dog that we co-own with Loraine won the female dog of the year in 2019 with all 7 of her puppies becoming Champions and some Grand Champions.  From that Litter was our special boy Boudreaux.  Boudreaux won Select Dog at Westminster, the most prestigious Dog Show in America.  She was so proud of him and what he was able to do.  Her special babies, Marina, Boudreaux, Beckett, Paisly and Behr will miss her dearly.

Cathy not only loved her family and animals but she loved her Church, plants, and cooking.  For over 13 years she cooked a meal for the Connection Class every Wednesday night bringing younger couples to Church and in turn they brought all their Children.  She never arrived at an event without bringing something delicious for everyone to enjoy, some of her favorites were Big Mac potatoes, homemade lasagna, and her famous millionaire candy. She always opened her home for those she loved to come together and enjoy a special meal. Plants were a close favorite after her dogs and cooking, she was known to grow anything and everything. Her Grandchildren and I know that twice a year we have a ritual of bringing all the plants in from the cold or carrying them out when it is warm.
