Public invited to UPPJ
swearing in ceremony
The public is invited to attend the swearing in ceremony for the newly-elected Union Parish Police Jury.
The ceremony will take place Tuesday during the Jury’s first meeting of the new year. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the Courthouse Annex, 303 E Water St. in Farmerville.
The public will have a chance to meet and speak with their jurors following the meeting.
Master Gardeners host
biodiveristy author Jan. 22
The D’Arbonne Master Gardeners will host biodiversity expect and author Johnny Armstrong at a meeting Jan. 22.
Armstrong is the author of “Rescuing Biodiversity: The Protection and Restoration of a North Louisiana Ecosystem”, which tells the story of one man’s attempts to preserve a vanishing Louisiana ecosystem and restore the animal and plant species that once lived there.
The meeting, which is open to the public, will be held at 9:30 a.m. in the Union Parish Ag Center, 210 E. Water St. in Farmerville. Call 368-9935 for more information.

Foster Farms executive
to speak at luncheon
Vince Lucas, Complex Manager of Foster Farms, will be the guest speaker at the January Union Parish Chamber of Commerce luncheon.
The luncheon will be held Jan. 16 at 11:45 a.m. in the Farmerville Church of Christ, 306 E Franklin St. in Farmerville.
Chronic wasting disease
testing stations in place
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has placed several Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) testing stations in Union Parish.
Hunters who wish to have their kills tested should remove the animal’s head and deliver it to one of the following stations:
Farmerville: 308 Thomas St.
Marion: 2252 LA-143
Bastrop: 10400 Crossett Rd
