What next — Cuba

By: Tuffy Fields

America is in the middle of a war with Iran that is slowly spiraling out of control. In the middle of this excursion into history, we are hearing that a new goal of America is to force the downfall of the Cuban regime in Havana. Will this be military or economical? This is not clear and is a clear strategy that the president uses to keep an adversary confused and questioning what is next. The bottom line is that there is about to be a regime change in Cuba and it will be a better world for it; both in the United States and especially in Cuba itself. I recall my father flying to Cuba from Baton Rouge on business in the late 1950s. A month after he returned Castro and his guerrillas entered Havana and the world changed. Communism arrived at our front door and has been with us ever since. America made some tactical mistakes that perpetuated a corrupt nation and has been unable to shift the direction of the country’s misery. This may be about to change so let’s look at the history of Cuba from 1890 until the present.
