Funeral services for Mrs. Vivian Odom, age 103 of Farmerville, LA was held at 2:00 PM, Friday April
14, 2023, at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel in Farmerville, LA with Minister Ken Treybig officiating.
Special music was provided by Noel Odom. Visitation began at 12:30. The graveside service occured at
Zion Hill Cemetery under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home.
Vivian was born December 16, 1919, to Willie and Serena Ferguson in Farmerville, Louisiana. She
passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on April 10,2023, at the remarkable age of
103.
Vivian married Leonard Odom June 8, 1940. Their 43 years of marriage were filled with the nurturing
and enjoyment of seven children. Vivian was admired as a talented seamstress whose children’s
accomplishments reflect the love and energy, she poured into creating their desire for education and
success in life.
Vivian enjoyed her senior years working as an aide in the Union Parish Police Jury and the Union Parish
School Board until the age of 83. She especially enjoyed the visits of her grandchildren who loved to play
in the country and eat her legendary fried chicken.
Vivian was a seeker of biblical knowledge and was devoted to the study of the Bible. Her faith and love
of her Lord and Savior permeated her life. She developed loving friendships with her church family and
enjoyed planning yearly trips with them.
Mrs. Odom was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Odom, parents: Willie and Serena
Ferguson, son: Bruce Odom, brother: Minor Lee Ferguson, three sisters: Willie Dean, Christine, and
Mary Jean, and one grandchild: Stephanie Odom.
Mrs. Odom is survived by three sons: Gerald, Bobby and Kevin Odom, three daughters: Brenda Britton
(Richard), Bonnie Singleton (Tommy), and Jeannine Powell, grandchildren: Darran Britton (Minerva),
Shannon Lewis (Kevin), Deanna Forester (Brandon), Hilary Odom, Dillon Powell (Brittani), and Hunter
Powell (Haley), and 14 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Dillon Powell, Hunter Powell, Mark Odom, Kevin Lewis, Noel Odom, and Brandon
Forester. Honorary pallbearers were Darran Britton, Billy Beam, Randy Rhodes, and Joel Rhodes.
