The Union Parish High School FFA chapter recently competed in the FFA National Chapter Award competition.

The National Chapter Award evaluates a portfolio built by FFA members to showcase the outstanding leadership and citizenship displayed by its members.

During the 2022-2023 school year, UPHS FFA members completed 15 community service projects and leadership building activities, while partnering with local businesses in the community.

These partnerships included the Union Parish Chamber of Commerce, D’Arbonne Master Gardeners, D’Arbonne State Park, and the Union Parish Library.

The UPHS FFA created an hydroponics garden, built and hung bird houses at D’Arbonne State Park, taught a plant science lesson to children, participated in a chapter officer leadership training, and partnered with D.A.R.E. to teach members about the effects of alcohol and drugs on a person, and so much more!

Because of all the members’ hard work, the Union Parish FFA chapter earned the title of Gold Emblem Chapter. This is the first time in Union Parish High School FFA history that anyone has made it this far!

Three of the Union Parish FFA members traveled to the 96th Annual National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, IN this to accept the award on behalf of the entire Union Parish FFA team.
