Thirty-Five Years Ago – Part 4

The initial thrust of the coalition forces was noth-
ing less than amazing; however, there were indicators

that the war was going to happen. We were told that
the SEALS would not be coming for the weekly softball
game. A lady on the compound received a call from her
nephew who worked at the Pentagon and was
told that he would not be there for supper at
two o’clock. The air attack began at two and he
lived in America and not Saudi Arabia. When
I came in from the construction site I passed
by a small landing strip that was manned by
the 82nd Airborne. A large cargo plane had

arrived and soldier in combat gear were board-
ing. Of course Bush had given a date if Saddam

Hussein did not leave Kuwait and then he left

no room for Hussein to save face by the with-
drawal; a negotiating strategy in the mid-East.
