Sammy Brewster

Funeral services for Mr. Sammy Brewster, age 70 of Wichita, KS, will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 06, 2023, at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eugene Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Roark Cemetery in Marion, LA, under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home. Sammy was born April 10, 1947 in West Monroe, LA to Samuel James Brewster and Alice Beulah Stewart Brewster. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for his entire working career. Sammy worked in the West Monroe Post Office as a clerk and the Marion Post Office as postmaster before he retired. He was a graduate of West Monroe High School, attended LA Tech, and played basketball at North East Louisiana University where he finished his schooling. Sammy loved to hunt and fish any chance he got. He loved his family and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with all his heart. He had the gift of music and would sing and play his guitar in worship. Sammy’s joy and smiler were infections and he will be greatly missed. Sammy was preceded in death by his wife of almost 43 years Judy Avery Brewster; his parents; and his brother Gary Brewster. He is survived by his second wife Edna Brewster; daughter Michelle Tharpe and husband Michael; son Sammy Chris Brewster and wife Christine; and his grandchildren Michaela Tharpe and Samuel and Bella Brewster. Serving as pallbearers will be Bubba Steward, Boots Ramsey, Boomer Coates, Roy Pierce, Barney “Scooter” Howard, and Spence Allen. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the service Friday, October 06, 2023 at Farrar Funeral Home. The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Gideons International or American Caner Society in his name.
