Retired teachers hosts museum, Brokers

The Retired Teachers Association of Union Parish recently held two meetings, one in October and one in November. The group would like to thank Mrs. Jean Jones from the Union Museum of History & Art for providing a meeting location in October and for her report on the progress of the museum. Union Parish is very fortunate to have this facility with all of its volunteers, quality programs, and displays!
Thanks are also extended to the Union Parish TRIAD for allowing the group to conduct multiple meetings, including the November session, in its spacious meeting room. Attendees received important information from Mrs. Claudia Wade, Director of Community Development and Grant Management for Union General Hospital. She described many of the services provided by the hospital and gave updates concerning future development plans. Then Mrs. April Duke, Team Leader for Brokers of Hope, explained their mission to support Union Parish families with children who are in need of assistance. Mrs. Kaitlyn Mitchell, representative for AMBA, was also present to make contact with retirees who might need advice about insurance benefits.
Union LRTA would like to invite and encourage all retired Union Parish educators to attend the February 6, 2024 meeting when Rodney Watson LRTA Executive Director will be present to provide updates concerning retiree benefits legislation.
We wish all of you a very Merry Christmas, a truly Happy New Year and hope to see you in 2024!!!
