Union General Hospital has named Jennyfer Gomez Ramirez the 2023 It’s a Girl Thing Making Proud Choices scholarship.
Ramirez is a 2023 graduate of D’Arbonne Woods Charter School and the daughter of Marisol Ramirez from Farmerville.
Ramirez, who joined the It’s a Girl Thing program when she was in middle school, graduated with a 3.9 GPA. and will be attending the University of Louisiana Monroe ULM, pursuing a degree in Occupational Therapy.
“Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice,” UGH Spokeswoman Claudia Wade said. “We see great things in Jenny’s future.”
It’s a Girl Thing, Making Proud Choices was founded by Union General Hospital in 2013. Under the program a $1,000 scholarship is awarded every year.
The program’s purpose is to help teen girls learn the importance of self-worth, setting goals in life and making proud choices, Wade said.
