The Gazette has been informed that the Union Parish Police Jury intends to hold a special meeting at 10:00 am on Monday, December 30, 2024.
The Gazette requested a copy of the agenda but was informed that an agenda would not be published until December 27th.
Given the holiday season, unusual time of day for this meeting and the absence of an agenda at this time, citizens are requested to be alert and attend and be heard at this meeting.
UPPJ meetings are typically held after 5 pm to enable citizens to attend and participate. Most employed citizens are at work at 9:00 am.
Unconfirmed sources indicate that one of the purposes of the meeting might be to change audit firms to return to the audit firm in place when the UPPJ Landfill fund of some $9,000,000 was on deposit without drawing interest.It is unclear why a “special meeting” would be needed for this.
