Museum to host conservancy rep

Nikki Mattson, Southeast Field Representative for The Archaeological Conservancy, will give a talk in the Union Museum of History and Art on Thursday, August 22, at 5:30 p.m.Mattson will outline the work of the Conservancy in identifying, acquiring and preserving the most significant archaeological sites in the United States. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in anthropology from the University of Mississippi with an emphasis in archaeology.The talk is open to the public free of charge.Union Museum is located at 211 N. Main Street in Farmerville.

Jerry Lee Lewis to return!
Jerry Lee Lewis, the late great rock ‘n’ roll icon, will be the subject of a pop-up exhibit in the Union Museum of History and Art-Discovery Place, August 10-30.Lewis was celebrated with a special day in the museum back in March, 2023.From the museum’s archives will come fabulous treasures donated by his widow, Judith, and other memorabilia. The museum is located at 211 N. Main Street, Farmerville.Admission is free.

Lewis was briefly a student at Linville High School in Union Parish back in the 1950s.The spirited teen wowed the other students with his rock ‘n’ roll keyboarding, leaving a lasting impression that Linvillites still love to talk about.

Museum hours are 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.Free cd’s of Lewis’ music will be given to visitors while supplies last.

The Chamber Luncheons have been cancelled for the Summer

The Chamber’s next luncheon will be held on the 3rd Tuesday of September. Start arriving 11:30, Meal will start serving at 11:45AM, meeting starts at Noon.
