Meada Post Smith

Meada Post Smith, age 97 of Spearsville, LA, transitioned from her earthly life to her heavenly home on April following a recent injury. A funeral service, followed by burial, will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 2:00 PM, at Canaan Baptist Church in Spearsville, LA, under the direction of Farrar Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, prior to the service. Officiating will be Bro. John Mahoney and Bro. Tim Post. Pallbearers will be nephew’s Eddie Post, Randy Post, Frankie Post, Nelson Post, Larry Post and Richard Post.
Meada was born April 3, 1927 to her parents John and Eddie Webb post at their home in Spearsville, LA> At the age of thirteen she was reborn into the Kingdon of God at Canaan Baptist Church and was baptized behind the church in Morgan Creek. She loved and served her Lord for the remainder of her life as a devoted Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Mammaw, Sunday School Teacher, Church Treasure, Grocery Store Clerk, Senior Activities Director, and friend to all who knew her. Her love for people was obvious by her interest in learning what and how her family and friends were doing. She loved hearing stories of happenings and enjoyed telling some of her own. Many of her stories revolved around her Post heritage, of which she was very proud.
Those preceding her in death include her parents, John Frank and Eddie Webb Post; husband, James Morrece Smith; daughter Linda Kaye Risinger; sisters, Verna Williams and Latance Culpepper; and her brothers, Robert Post, Coleman Post, Gerald Post. Conroy Post, Wayne Post, and Tom Post.
Left to cherish her memory includes her sons, James Frank Smith (Susan), Connie Morrence Smith (Linda), and Terry Kent Smith; sister, Barbara Burbank; brother, Bill Post (Jan); granddaughter, Angela Smith Edwards (Mo); grandsons, Todd Risinger (Vicky), Scott Risinger (Lesha), Jamie Risinger (Kelley), and John Risinger (Tricia); thirteen great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family expresses appreciation to her caregivers, Kara, Amy, Sherrie, Brenda, Madison, and Marilyn, who made it possible for her to remain in her home as long as possible. Thank you to the staff at Alpine Skilled Nursing Center and Northern Louisiana Medical Center for their competent compassionate care.
Although Meada loved gardening and flowers, the family suggest to those wanting to express their love and sympathy to consider, in lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory to Canaan Baptist Church or the Baptist Children’s Home.
