Larry G. Norrell, 73, of Monroe, Louisiana, died Sunday, April 23, 2023, at the St. Francis Medical Center. Mr. Norrell was a native of Ashley County, a resident of Monroe, Louisiana for over 60 years, and a former resident of the Milo Community outside of Hamburg. After he graduated from Fountain Hill High School in 1969, he was drafted into the United States Army where he served as a Medic during the Vietnam Era. He saved several lives while serving his country and was a Purple Heart recipient. Mr. Norrell worked as an Inspector for the Louisiana Highway Department for over 30 years. He was a member of the Rocky Branch Assembly of God Church in Farmerville, Louisiana, and was an avid fisherman.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George Richard “Bull” and O.D. Ricks Norrell; two sisters, Patricia Keller and Irene Stephens and three brothers, Raymond Norrell, Jimmy Norrell, and James William Norrell.
He is survived by a foster child, Sammy Lyons; his brother, Fred Norrell of Farmeville, Louisiana; three sisters, Nellie Vines of Parkdale, Carla Robbins of Crossett, and Kathy Terrell of Fountain Hill; a sister-in-law, Kathy Barker Norrell of Hamburg; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 25, 2023, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Justin Uselton officiating. Burial will be in the Carlock Cemetery.
