Edwards won’t run for U.S. Senate in
2026, leaving Democrats scrambling to
find a candidate with a viable chance to
break Republicans’ stronghold on the
seat.
Edwards, who was an anomoly as
the only Democratic governor elected
in the Deep South during the first of his
two terms, announced his decision in a
post on X.
