Hurricane Milton hits Florida’s Gulf Coast

Hurricane Milton threatened Florida’s gulf coast to be one of the most devastating storms in recorded history, according to several experts. Several towns were already in a state of disrepair from the state’s prior storm, Hurricane Helene, which had already cost the state billions of dollars in property damage.
“Thankfully, we weathered the storm in Disney World Orlando safely. On Thursday morning, just before the park would quickly clean up, there was a lot of folliage over the sidewalks and parking lots. In the resort where we stayed, there were multiple toppled bamboo plants, but the storm was more forgiving than expected, and I, as someone who probably wasn’t going to be able to evacuate on Wednesday, am very thankful that the storm was easy to ride out.” – Gabe Kenley
Other than the odd lamp post and hanging door, Disney World would hold together much stronger than other parts of Florida effected by Hurricane Milton.
According to Realtor.com, damages caused by Hurricane Milton could hit $175 Billion in repairs. In the aftermath of the storm, 17 casualties were reported and several neighborhoods were leveled in the wake of Milton.
“I want to express my thanks to everyone who reached out to me and my family concerned about my safety in Florida, and I want to assure you all that I am okay. After seeing what damage the storm caused the rest of Florida, I see just how serious the danger was in the area I was stuck in, and I’m thankful to be okay.”
In the wake of two hurricanes within two weeks, Florida is continuing to seek aid from the federal government to recover the damages.
