Fleming praises landowner protections

 LOUISIANA STATE TREASURER JOHN FLEMING APPLAUDS LANDOWNER PROTECTIONS 

BATON ROUGE, LA — Today, Louisiana State Treasurer John Fleming, M.D., expressed his strong support for House Bill (HB) 7, the “Louisiana Landowners Protection Act,” authored by Louisiana State Representative Mike Johnson (R-Pineville). 

If passed, HB 7 will strengthen private property rights across Louisiana by prohibiting private entities from using expropriation, commonly known as eminent domain, for carbon dioxide pipelines and storage projects. The legislation also removes existing authority to compel land use for such projects and eliminates certain regulatory powers related to carbon dioxide sequestration.
