Funeral services for Mr. Edward (Ned) Eugene Perry, age 92 of Farmerville, LA, were held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 5, 2023 at Farrar Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Farmerville Cemetery where many of his wife’s family lay to rest, although there will be no graveside service. Edward (Ned) Eugene born April 15, 1931in New Brockton, AL, and died peacefully in his sleep December 28, 2023. Ned was the 4th child of Katherine Todd Perry and William Thomas Perry’s eight children. He spent his formative years in Lockhart, AL and Florala, AL and graduated from the University of AL in 1953 in Commerce & Business Administration. He married Mary Margaret (Mike) Bond Perry in April, 1953. He served in the Army in Fort Jackson as a Platoon Sergeant and weapons’ man from Oct., 1953 until Sept. 1955. Ned and “Mike” (as he affectionately referred to her) were married 66 years before her death in 2019. Ned worked from a young age doing everything from milking the school principal’s cow, washing the families’ clothes, was a school bus driver, waiter and dishwasher in college, surveyor and lastly, a salesman. He retired from Unisys, then worked for Monroe Business Forms before starting (then finally retiring from) Peregrine Corporation. Ned also remained an avid fan of University of AL (where he and Mike met), even after graduating. Ned was a long-time member of Fondern Presbyterian Church in Jackson, MS before he and Mike left Jackson and moved to Farmerville with their daughter Lisa and son in law Mike. He was involved in many areas of the church but always found time to help others and be there for his family. Ned is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Margaret Bond Perry, his eldest daughter, Ramona (Mona) Katherine Perry, two sisters Libba (Grinn) Clark and Sadie (John) Echols, three brothers Oliver, Bill (Norma) and Gordon (Pat) Perry. Left to grieve and remember him are brother Milner (Judy) and sister Nita Lewis along with daughter Lisa (Mike) and son Jim (Margarita), grandson Yair Moreno and granddaughter Victoria Moreno in addition to numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Ned contributed to many charities, of which, you are welcomed to make donations. Some of these were: Wounded Warrior Project, Disable Veterans, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Ave New York, NY 10065, Union Parish Humane Society, and the Habitat for Humanity. The family would like to thank those who provided support and comfort to Ned and the family: Dr Steven Venters and staff, Rhonda Starks, his caregiver of 5 years, friend Susie Smith and Elara Hospice. Visitation was held at 1:00 PM, prior to the service, Friday, January 5, 2023 at Farrar Funeral Home.
