Doris Lynn Knotts Baughman

Doris Lynn Knotts Baughman, 84, died peacefully in the arms of her family on Sunday, August 27, 2023. Lynn was born August 21, 1939, to Walter Christopher Knotts and Doris Rutledge Knotts. Lynn was raised in Peck, Louisiana, where she was introduced to her love for cooking, bird watching, and the outdoors. She spent her formative years attending Wisner Elementary, Junior High, and High School. She earned her B.S. in elementary education from Centenary College where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. This is where she met the love of her life, Joe Henry Baughman, to whom she was a devoted wife. They married in 1961 and moved to Farmerville, Louisiana, where they established their home and raised four loving children.
 Lynn served as President of United Methodist Women, and she was an active member of numerous charities and clubs including Farmerville United Methodist Church Ada Circle, the local book club, The Jaycees, and Order of the Eastern Star. She also volunteered her time at the Union Parish Museum. Lynn loved working in her yard and especially tending to her birds. Lynn was a devoted member of the Farmerville United Methodist Church and lived a life of selflessly serving her family, friends and community. She always believed she was living her life as Jesus wanted her to live it. She was the epitome of a lady and will long be
remembered for her gentleness and kindness. Lynn leaves a legacy of faith, family, service, and
love to all those who knew her. In addition to her parents, Lynn was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Henry Baughman. She is survived by her sister Nancy Knotts Thames (Bud); her four children, Joseph Christopher Baughman (Mary Lou), David Gunter Baughman (Jonie), Nancy Lynn Baughman,
Sarah Rutledge Baughman Haydel (Scott); her fourteen grandchildren Joseph Christopher
Baughman, Daniel Read Baughman (Loren), Matthew Tanner Baughman, Sarah Elizabeth
Baughman Tinsley (Connor), Joseph Henry Baughman, Andrew Thomas Baughman, David
Matthew Cole, Mary Camille Cole, Caroline Rutledge Haydel, Anna Lynn Haydel, Nancy
Baughman Haydel, Mary Ellen Haydel, Scott Andrew Haydel, Jr., Sarah Elizabeth Haydel; and
her five great-grandchildren Claire Grace Baughman, Henry Christopher Baughman, Molly Belle
Baughman, Jack Read Baughman, Hudson Ray Cole and numerous nieces and nephews. Lynn is also survived by her dearest in-laws and support group, Stein, Jr. and Ann Baughman, Mitzi and Donny Gates and Lynn and Bill Duncan. Pallbearers will be Joseph Christopher Baughman, Daniel Read Baughman, Matthew Tanner Baughman, David Matthew Cole, Joseph Henry Baughman, Andrew Thomas Baughman, and Scott Andrew Haydel Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Raleigh Neely, Tommy Futch, Buddy Fisher, Scotty Booth, John Steven Preaus, and Dr. Tommy Ward. We would also like to thank the caretakers who lovingly got mom through this time, Ruth Ann Humphries, Renee Hausley, Tiffany Wines and Rhonda “Sissy” Tucker. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at Farmerville United Methodist Church from 10:00 till 12:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Hank Hamilton. Interment will be at Farmerville City Cemetery under the direction and care of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Farmerville.
