Question: After the Blessed Holy

Days of Jesus’ birth (Christmas)

– His sacrifice for us on the cross

(Good Friday) and His promised

resurrection and offer of a life ever-

lasting (Easter); do we feel the pull

to get to know Him better/closer?

Might this quote from Nelson Man-

dela inspire us: “There’s no passion

to be found playing small – is set-

tling for a life that’s less than the

one you are capable of living.”

What lives are we “capable of” liv-

ing? What kind of life does Jesus

want us to live? Jesus wants us to

live lives of evangelism – live of

service to others – lives of love; not

hate. In telling His disciples after

His resurrection; He was telling all

Christians into perpetuity to ‘Go

into all the world and preach the

gospel to every creature.’ Mark

16:15

Ephesians 4:1-2 “As a prison-

er in the Lord, then, I urge you to

walk in a manner worthy of the call-

ing you have received: with all

humility and gentleness, with pa-

tience, bearing with one another in

love…” — “Each of you should use

whatever gift you have received to

serve others, as faithful stewards of

God’s grace in its various forms.”

1 Peter 4:10 Do nothing out

of selfish ambition or vain conceit.

Rather, in humility value others

above yourselves, not looking to

your own interests but each of you

to the interests of the others. Philip-

pians 2:3-4

1 Corinthians 7:17 Only, as the

Lord has assigned to each one, as

God has called each, so let him

walk… Hebrews 3:1 “Therefore,

holy brothers and sisters, who share

in the heavenly calling, fix your

thoughts on Jesus…”

Amazing isn’t it, that it “get to the

heart of the matter”; God’s Word is

sufficient. He & His word are all we

need to learn how to live the lives

He wants us to.

Today’s text, I Corinthians 15:8-11,

highlights God’s grace extended to

us through the Resurrection.

After the Apostle Paul lists those

who had personally seen the ris-

en Christ, he adds his name to the

eye-witnesses. We can tell that he

feels extremely humbled and unde-

serving, intensely ashamed of his

former role as a persecutor of the

early church.

Paul is sharing the profound priv-

ilege of being a recipient of God’s

grace. He is blown away by what

God has done for him. Then he goes

on to extol the mighty power of

God’s grace.

No credit is taken by Paul for his

skills or abilities, no false pride in

his accomplishments. He gives all

glory to the power of God’s grace to

wipe away sin, to transform, and to

accomplish His will.

An expectation is set by Paul for the

proof or presence of grace in each

Christian life. Grace redeems us,

uses us, and empowers us. By God’s

grace, there is a change in the Chris-

tian’s life, as like Paul, we become a

new creature in Christ Jesus.

What a privilege and unmerit-

ed blessing to be included in His

Kingdom and His continued work!

For by His marvelous grace are we

saved!

Join our worship service each Sun-

day at 11 AM, 400 No. Main. If

Associate Pastor Stephen Murry

John 6:70-71 – Jesus answered

them, “Did I not choose you, the

twelve, and one of you is a dev-

il?” HE spoke of Judas Iscariot, the

son of Simon, for it was he who

would betray Him, being one of the

twelve.

Judas began his life as a typical

baby, a little boy. Who would have

thought he would one day be the

one to betray Christ? The one who

would lead the soldiers to Christ in

the Garden. I am the door. If anyone

enters by Me, he will be saved (John

10:9). “Judas, are you betraying the

Son of Man with a kiss?” – Luke

22:48. Judas kissed the Door of

Heaven and went to Hell.

Sadly, in churches today there are

lost church members. Remember:

Judas was one of the twelve disci-

ples, taught by Christ through Word

and example. Judas was trusted with

the money bag. He even witnessed

to others. Judas had a head knowl-

edge, but not a heart knowledge.

Jesus was not surprised about Ju-

das. John 6:64 – For Jesus knew

from the beginning who they were

who did not believe, and who would

betray Him. John 13:18 – That

the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘He

who eats bread with Me has lifted

up his heel against Me.’ However,

the other eleven disciples were to

continue to serve Christ.

There is and always will be hypo-

crites in the church. They should

never keep us away. Every church

is made up of spiritually mature

Christians; many who are saved, yet

never grown; and much more who

are unsaved church members. What

category are you? Do you know

that you know, you have given your

heart to Jesus?
