Rev. Hank Hamilton
New year. New choices? New
Jesus? yes, yes and NO. Jesus
is the same today as He was
yesterday and as He Will Be
tomorrow. Malachi 3:6 “For I
the Lord do not change; therefore
you, O children of Jacob,
are not consumed.”
This verse is explains to us that
God’s unchanging nature is the
reason His people, the «sons
of Jacob» (Israelites/believers)
were not (are not) doomed,
despite their (our) failings. It
highlights God’s faithfulness,
mercy, and the security of His
promises – even when we fail
Him. Malachi 3:6 reminds us
that God hasn’t changed. God
doesn’t abandon us when we
stray or make poor choices. He
offers us continued mercy and
second chances.
If we’ve been given a second
chance, God wants us to be
honest and heartfelt in our
worship of Him and in the
service to others. Walking
the walk – not just talking the
talk. The Bible is full of verses
about God’s second chances,
highlighting His endless mercy,
forgiveness. Micah 7:18
“Who is a God like you, who
pardons sin and forgives the
transgression of the remnant
of his inheritance? You do not
stay angry forever but delight
to show mercy.”
God, the giver of second chances,
wants His people to do the
same – give others forgiveness
and second chances. As Christians,
we know that believing
in the Gospel changes people;
but do we believe changed
people can, in turn, change
other people, communities, or
even nations? Jesus thinks we
can. Matthew 6:14 For if you
forgive other people when they
sin against you, your heavenly
Father will also forgive you.
Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind and
compassionate to one another,
forgiving each other, just as in
Christ God forgave you.” This
Jesus emphasized principle
creates a direct link between
human forgiveness and receiving
divine forgiveness; thus
connecting our relationships
with others to our relationship
with Jesus and the Father.
“And do not forget to do good
and to share with others, for
with such sacrifices God is
pleased.” Hebrews 13:16
“Each of you should use whatever
gift you have received to
serve others…” 1 Peter 4:10
If, in this new year, we will
follow these simple gospel
instructions – if we will listen
for God’s guidance in our daily
lives – if we will make Jesus
inspired choices, 2026 will indeed
be a “new” year and possibly
a “new” us. Let’s make
2026 a year of better choices
- of more giving/serving – of
more compassion and forgiveness.
Mark 10:45: “For even
the Son of Man came not to be
served but to serve, and to give
his life as a ransom for many”.

Pastor Bubba Hoggatt
Bro. Bubba named his
message “ It Begins at the
Manger”. Matthew.11:2,1.
Salvation begins with believing
in the virgin birth of Jesus.
A few, Elijah, and those caught
up in the Rapture. May not
taste physical death, but will
be changed going into eternity.
All are appointed once to die.
We are all in the process of going
into eternity, the righteous
and the unrighteous . Jesus’
birth was the beginning of his
journey to the cross where he
paid for our sins. 1).
Faith Evidenced. Luke 1,2.
Mary’s faith became fact
when she accepted that she
would bear God‘s son. Joseph’s
faith became fact when
he believed the angel who
told him in a dream that Mary
was indeed having God‘s
son. The Shepherd’s believed
what the angels announced
to them and acted on it. The
wise men, also, followed the
star because they believed
the Messiah had been born.
Through the ages, and today,
many give all, even their lives
because of their faith in Jesus.
2). Faith Estranged. Matthew
2: 16-18. There are those
who don’t believe. They are
estranged from the salvation.
God offers. We are either
bringing people to God, or not
bringing people to God. If we
believe, the way we live our
lives should show it and guide
people to seek God 3).
Faith Everlasting. Matthew.
25: 41, 34, 46. We
show our love for Jesus by the
way we treat others. We aren’t
saved by good works, but, if
we are saved, good works, will
pour out from the way we live.
