Romans 12:12 “Rejoicing in Hope –
Persevering in Tribulation – Devoted
to Prayer.” This is us.today… waiting
for the Second Coming of Christ Jesus.
But while we expectantly wait,
we must remember to live and love
like Jesus; proving ourselves worthy
of sitting at His banquet table in
heaven when our work on earth is
done. The song below is a poignant
reminder of how easily we could
mis-step/backslide and become a
less-than-model child of God. God
loves us no-matter-what; but He can
be disappointed/hurt by us. Let us
this Lenten season repent of what
we should and be intentional in our
efforts to live in a way that will not
sadden our Lord and Savior.
Feel The Nails by Ray Boltz
They tell me Jesus died for my
transgressions
That He paid that price a long, long
time ago
When He gave His life for me on a
hill called Calvary
But there’s something else I want
to know
Does He still feel the nails
Every time I fail?
Can He hear the crowd cry, “Crucify”
again?
Am I causing Him pain?
Then I know I’ve got to change
I just can’t bear the thought of
hurting Him
It seems that I’m so good at breaking
promises
And I treat His precious grace so
carelessly
But each time He forgives what if
He re-lives
The agony He felt on that tree?
Does He still feel the nails
Every time I fail?
Does He hear the crowd cry, “Crucify”
again?
Am I causing Him pain?
Then I know I’ve got to change
‘Cause I just can’t bear the thought
of hurting Him
Holy, holy
Holy, is the Lord
Do You still feel the nails
Every time I fail?
Have I crucified You Jesus with my
sins?
Oh, I’m tired of playing games
I really want to change
I never want to hurt You again
Holy, holy
Holy, is the Lord
2 Thessalonians 3:5 May the Lord
direct your hearts into the love of
God, and into the patient waiting for
Christ.

The Honorable Justice Jay McCallum
brought our message, “Focus on
the Fruit”, from Deuteronomy 1:19-
36.
Facing the future can be fearful because
so often fearsome things are
looking back at us. Even when opportunities
lie just ahead, because of
our human nature, we search until we
find the risks. That is the story of the
Israelites in this passage. Instead of
focusing on the promised fruit, they
focused on the thorns.
Throughout this scripture passage,
we hear the promises of God expounded,
clearly proclaimed. They
are to take possession of the land as
God had commanded them. Faith
grants evidence and assurance; not
the other way around. “Faith is the
assurance of things hoped for, the evidence
of things not seen.” (Hebrews
11:1)
God gave the promise and encouraged
them, “…do not fear or be dismayed.”
(vs. 21) Yet, the people
doubted God at His Word and wanted
more. They wanted a scouting report,
and Moses gave in to them.
Although the land was bounteous
and flowed with milk and honey,
the people did not focus on the fruit
God had prepared for them. Instead,
they fixed their gaze on the thorns of
doubt and fear. “The people are powerful,
and the cities are fortified.”
(Numbers 13:28)
We should be very careful of putting
God to the test. (Deut. 6:16; Matt.
4:7) The object of faith is God and
His promises. The Bible emphasizes
that faith is reflected in the everyday
life of the believer. Faith is generally
the persuasion of the mind that a specific
statement is true. (Philippians
1:27; Thessalonians 2:13) The primary
idea is trust. If a thing is true, it
is worthy of trust. Faith is the result
of teaching (Romans 10:14-17), and
knowledge is an essential element.
“And without faith it is impossible to
please Him, for whoever would draw
near to God must believe that He exists,
and that He rewards those who
seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6)

Mark 10:32-45: He took the twelve
aside again and began to tell them
the things that would happen to Him.
Oftentimes, what the LORD has
for us, is not what we want to hear.
Thankfully, HE will always go with
us through it. This was true for the
apostles. Jesus gave them the sorrowful
prediction that HE would
soon die. HE willingly was giving
Himself, enduring a cruel, agonizing
death. HE would be scourged within
an inch of His life. John 10:18 –
No one takes it from Me, but I lay
it down of Myself… thus completing
His mission. Christ knew that no one
else, not even our ‘good’ works could
atone for our sin debt. HE paid it all!
In spite of what was before them, the
apostles focus was on shameful ambition
– what could it mean for ‘me’!
“Teacher, we want You to do for us
whatever we ask.” Some pastors
are ‘Name It/Claim It” preachers,
preaching what ‘tickles the ear’. Not
about what we can do in living for
Him, but what can God do for ‘me’.
And people flock to them for that
very reason. Christ told the apostles
they did not know what they were
asking. (James was the first Christian
martyr; John was exiled to Patmos.
Those who routinely come home to
an empty house, realize what that
meant to John.) We, too, often want
the ’Glory’ without the ‘groan’!
A sacrificial redemption is finding
greatness in serving Christ as we
serve others. For even the Son of
Man did not come to be served, but
to serve, and to give His life a ransom
for many.
