What does the Bible say about
praying for Israel? God has a
unique plan for Israel, and as
believers, we are called to intercede
for her and her people.
In doing so, we not only show
our love for God and His promises
but we also participate in
the unfolding of His divine
plan.
From Abraham “I will establish
My covenant as an everlasting
covenant between Me
and you and your descendants
after you for the generations
to come, to be your God and
the God of your descendants
after you.” Genesis 17:7 and
on through the prophets “This
is the covenant I will make with
the people of Israel after that
time,” declares the Lord, “I
will put my law in their minds
and write it on their hearts. I
will be their God, and they
will be My people.” Jeremiah
31:33 we can see that Israel is
at the center of God’s redemptive
plan.
Here are a few verses that remind
us of the importance
of seeking peace, protection,
prosperity, restoration, and
guidance for Israel:
for peace Psalm 122:6 and
Isaiah 66:12 — for protection
Psalm 121:4 and Isaiah 41:10
— for blessings and provision
Deuteronomy 28:11 and Psalm
67:6-7 — for hope and renewal;
Ezekiel 37:21-22 and Jeremiah
30:3 — for guidance Psalm
25:4-5
We are living in prophetic
times. Do we see that? Do we
look at current events through
a biblical lens and know that
we are called to lift up prayers
for Israel? Do we recognize
that we are an important part
of God’s Plan? Genesis 12:3
says: “I will bless those who
bless you, and I will curse him
who curses you; and in you all
the families of the earth shall
be blessed.”
Praying for Israel reflects our
willingness to obey God’s request.
BUT… we need to pray
for Christians, also. Christians
are being persecuted now just
as they were by the Romans
2,000 years ago. Open Doors
International (www.opendoors.
org) publishes The World
Watch List. The World Watch
List is Open Doors’ annual
ranking of the 50 countries
where Christians face the most
extreme persecution. As of
now, there are 153 countries
on earth who are recognized by
the United Nations. Sad isn’t
it, that 1/3 of those countries
are persecuting Christians?
All the prayers we offer up on
behalf of Israel can certainly be
prayed for our country as well.
America could use a little reinforcement…
a little “continuous
prayer”. 1
Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice
always, pray without
ceasing, give thanks in all
circumstances; for this is the
will of God in Christ Jesus
for you.” What if the key to
America’s peace, safety and
prosperity lies in the praying
for the well-being of others?
Jeremiah 29:7
In these trying and dangerous
times… “I urge, then, first of
all, that petitions, prayers, intercession
and thanksgiving be
made for all people – for kings
and all those in authority, that
we may live peaceful and quiet
lives in all godliness and holiness.”

All of us have experienced
hurt. We’ve all been angry.
We’ve all been given the opportunity
to hold grudges or
hard feelings in our hearts.
But are those feelings really
justified? Do we really have
the right to hold on to that anger,
or even hatred?
In II Corinthians 2, we see Paul
had been hurt by some in the
church at Corinth. His character,
his call by God, and his
message had been challenged.
Many of the people Paul knew
and loved had turned on him.
The church had taken the appropriate
steps and dealt with
the trouble makers. Verse 6
says that the majority of the
church inflicted this punishment,
whatever it was. They
may have even put the guilty
individuals out of the church.
This punishment was meant to
bring the fallen brother(s) to
conviction and repentance. The
goal was restoration.
But in our text, it seems the
church was focused on punishment
as a means of getting
even, an idea which, sadly,
reflects the mindset of today’s
society. The church was in turmoil!
Even though punishment had
been rendered – as it should
have been – many hung on to
their anger and bitterness. Paul
challenged them, pointing
out that, through Christ, they
had received grace rather than
justice. Wouldn’t a response
of forgiveness and love be the
Christian way?
Here is a great truth: Love rejoices
in restoration, not condemnation.
Paul reminds them
that unforgiveness is the plot of
Satan.
Unforgiveness drives a wedge
of separation between you and
the Father. It hinders the power
and working of God in your
life. It destroys true worship.
It causes division within the
body of Christ. And the longer
it goes on, the worse it gets.
We are never more like our
Savior than when we forgive.
If you have experienced God’s
forgiveness and grace, may
you be obedient to the teaching
of God’s Word and show forgiveness
in your life.

Why are we at church? Once
we give our heart to Christ,
HE changes us. Our spiritual
relationship had a cost; Christ
paid for it with His life, when
HE died for our sins. Now it is
our responsibility to share Him
with others.
What are we doing for God?
We gave our heart to Him,
believing in the Name of the
Lord Jesus, receiving the Holy
Spirit, and were baptized. Now
what? God needs a Church
that is alive and well, ready to
serve Him. James 1:22 – Be
you doers of the Word and not
hearers only. Upon Christ’s
ascension, HE commanded us
to be witnesses everywhere we
go. Serving Him is a choice,
we should daily make. You
shall walk after the Lord your
God and fear Him, and keep
His commandments and obey
His voice; you shall serve Him
and hold fast to Him – Deuteronomy
13-4.
Romans 12:1-2 says our body is
a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable
to God, which is your reasonable
service. And … be
transformed by the renewing of
your mind, that you may prove
what is that good and acceptable
and perfect will of God.
HE is always with us, whether
we are on a ‘mountaintop’ or
‘down in the valley’. HE is the
answer for our lives and for our
country.
Matthew 4:10b – You shall
worship the Lord your God,
and Him only you shall serve.
HE is our Savior, not by works
of righteousness. If we love Jesus
as we say we do, are we actively
serving God? While we
were yet sinners, Christ died
for us – Romans 5-8. Let us, as
Christians, live for Him.
