Fairness. Is life fair? No, it
is not. Many parents remind
their young ones of that often
… LOL God even tells us that
it isn’t. John 16:33 “In this
world, you will have trouble.

But take heart! I have over-
come the world.” James

1:12
God also tells us that if we

are ‘righteous’ – behave righ-
teously… that He will reward

us. “For the Lord is righteous,
he loves justice; the upright
will see his face.” Psalm 11:7

“Blessed is the one who perse-
veres under trial because, hav-
ing stood the test, that person

will receive the crown of life
that the Lord has promised to
those who love him.” James
1:12

How do we know what righ-
teous is? The dictionary says

that to be righteous is to be

“morally right; acting in ac-
cord with divine or moral law

– free from guilt or sin”.” We
contend that God’s divine law

should take precedent over
moral law. If you follow His

laws/commandments, follow-
ing the ‘moral law’ will come

naturally.

While we are daily… deliber-
ately trying our personal best

to behave righteously; we need
to do our due diligence in other

areas of our lives also. “Ap-
point judges and officials for

each of your tribes in every

town the Lord your God is giv-
ing you. They shall judge the

people fairl..” Deuteronomy
16:18 “Let the elders who rule
well be considered worthy of
double honor, especially those
who labor in preaching and
teaching.” 1 Timothy 5:17
“Do not pervert justice or
show partiality. Do not accept
a bribe, for a bribe blinds the
eyes of the wise and twists the

words of the innocent.” Deu-
teronomy 16:19

Now that we’ve been remind-
ed to have a personal goal of

righteousness and now that
we’ve been instructed to look
for that quality in our other
relationships, let’s remember;
“Be joyful in hope, patient in
affliction, faithful in prayer.”
Romans 12:12 “For our light
and momentary troubles are

achieving for us an eternal glo-
ry that far outweighs them all…

2 Corinthians 4:17-18
Romans 8:28 – “And we know
that in all things God works
for the good of those who love
Him.”

Have you ever had someone at-
tack your character? It’s com-
mon in the world of politics,

but it happens in all areas of

life. Competition for jobs, jeal-
ousy, jockeying for position,

even in the church!
In II Corinthians 1:12-24, we
see where some false teachers
in the church went after Paul.
Satan is crafty like that. This
evil could have come from
Jews or Romans, but Satan sent
so-called “Christians” to attack
Paul and his teachings.
Paul had told the church that
he was planning to come see
them, but God had other plans,
so he was delayed. The false
teachers began to question
whether anything Paul said
could be trusted.
Paul laid out four defenses
of himself, defenses that we
should all maintain in our lives.
Paul said he was confident of:
His conscience.
He knew in his heart that he

lived a holy life, in godly sin-
cerity, by the grace of God.

His message.

Jesus Christ was Paul’s con-
sistent message. It wasn’t po-
litical, or self-promoting, or

culturally or financially driven.
It was Christ-centered.
God’s working in his life.
Paul’s testimony was that only
because of Jesus, he went from
being a persecutor to being
persecuted; from being feared
by Christians to being loved.
Paul reminds them that their
salvation is the working of God
in their lives.
God his witness.

In verse 23, Paul is simply say-
ing that God knows the truth,

and when it’s all said and done,

that’s the one thing that mat-
ters.

One day we will stand before
the Father and give an account

of our lives. If you are a Chris-
tian, you won’t stand alone. Je-
sus Christ will stand with you

as your mediator before God.
Any sin that could have ever
been held against you has been
paid by the blood of Jesus.
As believers, we can stand in
complete confidence that our
lives rest in the hands of the

Triune God who knows the ab-
solute truth. We rest in God the

Father, through faith in Jesus
Christ His Son, by the working
of the Holy Spirit. How blessed
is the Christian life, both now
and forever!

The Spiritual Segregation

  • Scripture references were
    from II Corinthians 6:14-16,
    Ezra 9:1-3 and 12, Nehemiah
    13:23 and 26, and I Peter 4:1-
  1. These passages explain that
    Christians should not marry

non-
Christians. They also tell us

to separate ourselves from
non-Christians when the
non-Christian are doing things
that are not included in our

beliefs of right and wrong ob-
tained from the Bible.

The Steadfast Separation – II
Corinthians 6:17. We are to
set limits to the exposure we
have with people who are not
Christians. We should witness
to them and encourage them

to accept Christ as their Sav-
ior. However, realize that they

may lead a lifestyle we are not
to follow. Do not participate
with them in activities that are
against what the Bible says is
right. Love them but not the
things they do.
The Sovereign Salutation – II
Corinthians 6:16-18 tells us
of the promises of God to His
people who are obeying Him.
He says he ‘will dwell in us
and walk among us. That He
will be our God and we shall
be His people’. He tells us to
‘come out from among them
and be separate…and He will
receive us and He will be our
Father and we shall be His sons
and daughters’.

Mark 3:1-7: Faithful follow-
ers, like Jesus, were found in

God’s house. One had a ‘hand’
problem; some had a ‘heart’
problem. So, they watched
Him closely, whether HE

would heal him on the Sab-
bath, so that they might accuse

Him. The ‘hand’ problem was
healed. Jesus does not care
whether, young, old, rich, poor,
saved, unsaved.

In the Bible, the hand is a sym-
bol: 1) of power – Matthew

26:64. If the LORD is not al-
ways before you, you have lost

His power. 2) blessings – Gen-
esis 28:14. However, sin can

cause a soul to no longer be
vibrant. 3) fellowship – Psalm

16:8. Unconfessed sin sepa-
rates us from God and others.

4) service – Psalm 107:37.
Though used to be involved,
now have become more of a
spectator. The condition of the
hand is ‘withered’, but God can
wake us up, if we are willing
to step out in faith. And when
HE had looked around at them
with anger, being grieved by
the hardness of their hearts,
“Stretch out your hand.” And
he stretched it out, and his
hand was restored as whole as
the other.
Then the Pharisees went out

and immediately plotted …
against Him … They had a
‘heart’ problem – a hard heart.

Their primary reason for com-
ing to the synagogue was to

find fault in Jesus, not to wor-
ship.

Why do we go to church? Have
we grieved our LORD by our
criticism of others? Are we
looking for fault in the church,
or are we there to worship our
LORD? It is better to have a
calloused hand problem, due
to service for our Lord, than to
have a calloused heart.
