Rev. Hank Hamilton
This sentiment from Charles Dickens’
Great Expectations closed out March
pretty much the way we saw it… “It
was one of those March days when
the sun shines hot and the wind blows
cold; when it is summer in the light,
and winter in the shade.”
Did this quote evoke the Bible in any
way for you? It’s amazing how the
smallest of things can bring us right
back to the Bible and Jesus when we
are intentionally seeking Him and His
messages to us. March weather; we
marveled over how warm it looked
outside the car windows with Daffodils
and Red Buds in bloom. We
experienced the bright warm 80s and
bleak rainy 50s. Living in a world
where we have to look for good news
or even the good in nasty weather is
just a small part of the Christian life.
In our Christian walk, we often encounter
nasty circumstances, but when
we remember that Jesus is “Light of
the World” we are renewed with hope
for better days. John 8:12 Again Jesus
spoke to them, saying, “I am the
light of the world. Whoever follows
me will not walk in darkness, but will
have the light of life.” Through this
passage we know that Jesus is the ultimate
source of goodness, truth, and
revelation; dispelling the darkness of
evil and sin.
If He can shine His everlasting light
over the darkness in our world, we can
look forward to brighter days… if not
here in this world, for sure in heaven
with our Savior. Let us be joyful this
Lenten season knowing that Jesus
came with a mission mandate… save
the souls of all mankind. Know that
Jesus is waiting for us; one & all and
that He‘s built a place for us. John
14:3 “And if I go and prepare a place
for you, I will come back and welcome
you into My presence, so that
you also may be where I am. And if I
go and prepare a place for you, I will
come back and take you to be with
me that you also may be where I am.”
With this beautiful promise we must
pray, praise and wait for His timing
in our lives. Lamentations 3:25-26
The Lord is good to those who wait
for him, to the soul who seeks him. It
is good that one should wait quietly
for the salvation of the Lord.

It is impossible to stress enough the
importance and significance of the
Resurrection of Jesus. It is a wonderful,
marvelous, glorious truth that Jesus
rose from the grave and He lives!
And it is one of, if not THE most important
biblical truth concerning our
eternal life. In I Corinthians 15:1-22,
the Apostle Paul lays out, in perfect
form, all the facts surrounding the
Resurrection of Jesus. He explains to
the Church in Corinth the reality, the
relevance, and the result of the Resurrection.
The Reality – The Resurrection isn’t
just a story; it is Biblical history.
Christ died, was buried, and rose of
the 3rdday. All the apostles, plus over
500 people were witnesses to the resurrected
Jesus. They saw him!
The Relevance – Paul points out that
if there is no resurrection, then preaching
and faith are in vain. If there is no
resurrection, then he and all who had
claimed to see Jesus after He arose are
liars. If there is not resurrection, your
faith is worthless, and you are still in
your sin. Without the resurrection, believers
are to be pitied above all men,
for there is no hope of eternal life.
The Result – But because Jesus DID
rise again, and because Jesus IS
ALIVE, those called by His name,
those who believe in Him as their
Savior, inherit eternal life. The wages
of sin is death. Good Friday was
about Jesus being the sacrifice for our
sin. God shows His love toward us by
accepting His Son’s sacrificial death
for our sins.Jesus paid our debt. He
died for us. Resurrection Sunday was
the fulfillment of Jesus’ words, “I will
be buried and on the third day, I will
rise again!” Jesus is the first fruit, and
at His coming, all those who belong
to Him will rise, too! Jesus holds the
power of resurrection. He defeated
death. Our only hope for salvation and
eternal life is in Him.

Bro. Bill took Dee to Mississippi to
spend time with family. Her aunt and
uncle celebrated their 75th wedding
anniversary. What a blessing to celebrate
75 years together!
Special songs were “Take My Hand”
sang by Melissa, and Bro. Gus sang
“Had It Not Been”.
Bro. Gus delivered God’s message
from Habakkuk 1: 1-17. We all get
frustrated from time to time. Habakkuk
was frustrated with people of
Israel. The first part of this scripture
deals with Habakkuk’s prayer to God
regarding the wicked compass the
righteous. The second part is God’s
answer to Habakkuk’s pleading in
which God told him that He would
work a work in Habakkuk’s day which
he would not believe even though God
told him. We often wonder why God
allows wickedness. We all have troubles.
Satan is a tricker. In James 1,
we read that “Let no man say when
he is tempted, I am tempted of God:
for God cannot be tempted with evil,
neither tempteth He any man: but every
man is tempted when he is drawn
away of his own lust, and enticed.”
Some folks think they can worship
God anywhere. We can and we should
worship God wherever we are, but do
we? We allow distractions around
us. God instructed us not to forsake
the assembling of ourselves together
with other Christians. Therefore, He
knows we need encouragement from
other Christians to stay accountable.
Occasionally, we turn a deaf ear to the
Holy Spirit. Life is so much sweeter
with Jesus. Titus 3: 3-5 tells us that we
are sometimes foolish, disobedient,
deceived, serving diver’s lusts and
pleasures, living in malice and envy,
hateful, and hating one another. But
we can experience God’s grace and
forgiveness. God stands with His
arms wide open welcoming us to Him.

Philippians 4:10-13 – Picnics
planned, outings planned, etc. then the
rain comes and we feel like it has ruined
everything. Sometimes plans are
changed due to sickness coming into
our lives, even leading to death. It was
not what we had planned. We must
however, allow the LORD to teach us
how to “sing in the rain”. The Apostle
Paul was a good example of this,
when he wrote – Not that I speak in
regard to need, for I have learned in
whatever state I am, to be content.
There are many causes of discontentment.
Envying what others have, can
keep us from enjoying the blessings
God has given us. Debt obtained by
trying to find satisfaction. So often,
after purchases are made, we find they
do not meet the need we thought they
would.
The cure for discontentment is found
in First Peter 5:7 – Cast all your cares
upon Him for HE cares for you. No
matter what storms may come, we
should look to Christ, who has the answers.
James 4:8 reminds us to Draw
near to God and HE will draw near
to you. Christ is our example. There
is delight we can obtain, as the David
wrote in Psalm 37:4 – Delight yourself
in the LORD; And HE will give
you the desires of your heart. Sometimes
HE changes our desires to meet
His plan for our lives. Trust Him!
“Hasn’t HE always come through
for you. HE’s the same now as then.
You may not know how. You may not
know when. But HE’ll do it again.”
