Following last week’s article about
God’s timing and losing someone precious,
it occurs to some of us that even
though we trust God explicitly, we are
still sometimes sad, devastated, lonely…
even overwhelmed with the “what to do
nows”. As thankful as we are for God’s
mercies and His blessings, at the tragic
times in our lives, we are can be temporarily
lost; even scared. These are important
times to lean into scripture more.
Paraphrased from: www.openarmscommunitychurch.
org “Love is the most
divine manifestation of God himself,
and we know that God is eternal. In that
way, love is also timeless. Love is the
only force that defies every known law of
physics. It is able to expand and endure
across all time and distance without being
lost or diminished.
When we love, we see the reflection of
God in this world. We get a blessed but
diluted, earthly glimpse of the awesome,
infinite power of God’s love. We hold it
for a time, but when it is taken away, we
are left with the memory of that power,
and we feel to the depths of our soul
the gaping hole that remains. There is a
never-ending longing in our hearts. The
depth of our sorrow is the exact depth of
our love. That we feel the loss so deeply
means that we loved that deeply – intensely.”
Would that we remain steadfast in loving
God that deeply, also. Deuteronomy
6:5 “You shall love the You’re your God
with all your heart and with all your soul
and with all your might.”
Pray for one another that God comes to
us and makes His presence felt; bringing
comfort and peace to our hurting
hearts. The only earthly consolation for
such a loss is the love and support of
those around us. The only power strong
enough to bring true and lasting healing
is God himself. Matthew 5:4 Blessed
are those who mourn, for they will be
comforted. Psalm 34:18 The Lord is
close to the brokenhearted; he rescues
those whose spirits are crushed.
The pain felt upon the departure of loved
ones from this life will generally mirror
the joy we felt while they remained with
us. — Sam Storms
Often we say that Christ will meet us on
the other side. That is true, of course, but
misleading. Let us never forget that He
walks with us on this side of the curtain
and then guides us through the opening.
We will meet Him there, because we
have met Him here. — Erwin Lutzer
A Christian funeral should be a coronation
ceremony, a statement to the world
about eternal life. — Billy Graham

Last week, we left Jonah in the bottom
of the sea in the belly of a giant fish! Remember,
he had decided he didn’t want
to follow God’s plan for his life, so he
had run in the opposite direction.
Jonah, like us sometimes, forgot who
God is:
All-knowing (omniscient) Everywhere
(omnipresent) All powerful (omnipotent)
God knew exactly where Jonah was
and exactly what he had in mind. We
can’t run from God. His plans cannot be
thwarted.
Now Jonah was in the belly of that fish
for three days and nights. It took that
long for him to come to his senses. Jonah
felt like he was at the absolute point of
death before he cried out to God.
But it didn’t have to be that way. He
didn’t have to go through all this; it was
the direct result of his disobedience.
Sounds a lot like us! Why do we choose
disobedience over honoring God? If
our lives don’t follow God’s will, we’re
bound for a lot of unnecessary pain and
hardship.
But there’s a great statement of comfort
in Jonah 2:2b – “you heard my voice!” In
the belly of a great fish, in the bottom of
the sea, after total defiance of God’s will,
Jonah ends his run from God. He turns
his thoughts from himself onto His God.
He sets his spiritual eyes on the reality
of the one True God. And he experiences
salvation.
Not only Jonah was saved, but the sailors
traveling with him, and ultimately, the
120,000 inhabitants of Nineveh.
Salvation is from the Lord. Your story
may not involve a storm and a fish, but
the end result is just as powerful. The
story of every believer is the story of
God’s grace that reaches into the depths
of our trials and despair and lifts us up
onto the solid Rock of Ages.
Have you experienced the saving work
of God in your life? Do you profess and
serve the risen Savior?

Bro. Mike lead us in praising God with
“ Lord, I Lift Your Name on High” to
begin our worship service. Bro. Bubba’s
message today was from.II Corinthians
5: 1- 10 “Off With the Old”. As Christians,
we have a huge responsibility in
life to reach out to those who need Jesus.
It is our responsibility to live life,
so others can see Jesus in us. It is our
responsibility to pray. What does our future
hold? We should have no doubt of
a glorious life with God in Heaven. 1)
Hope Until Departure. II Corinthians 5:
1-7. Jesus gives us promise of an eternal
home with him. We can know this with
absolute confidence and look forward to
it. We should have no fear in standing up
for Jesus. That is what brings light into
this dark world. So often a person will
begin their normal day without a thought
of meeting their Lord that same day, but
that is what happens. 2) Longing Before
Leaving. II Corinthians 5: 1-8. Often, we
groan in these bodies, especially as we
get older. We long for our eternal home
with an amazing new body. 3). Pleasing
While Present. II Corinthians 5: 9-10. It
is impossible to please God before we
are saved. After salvation, while we wait,
we are to do works that are pleasing to
God. Our mission is to bring others to the
Lord. If we trust and obey, we will be rewarded.
We will be having Homecoming
October 5th. We will be dedicating our
sanctuary anew on that day. Church picnic

If you could do life over, would it be
with a ‘Live Happy’, ‘Stay Happy’, or
Eternal Happiness in mind? Most people
want to be happy. [Our Fore Fathers
even included it in our Declaration of
Independence – “and the pursuit of happiness”,
recognizing the desire for happiness.]
God wants us to be happy – His
way: internally, externally, Eternally.
Psalm 1: Blessed is the man … found
favoring the right people, not Un-Godly,
who have no room for God in their lives;
or unrepentant sinners, Christians living
Un-Holy lives; or mockers of God,
making fun of sin and leading away from
the Truth. But his delight is in the law
of the Lord, And in His law he meditates
day and night. Studying God’s Will, and
following the principals of God, brings
peace in our lives. We need to read His
Word, meditating on it day and night.
However, it does no good, unless we apply
it to our life. By aligning our lives
with God’s principals, we will have
peace.
He shall be like a tree … that brings forth
its fruit in its season. The Word will take
root in our heart, as we neither turn to
the left or the right, in the proper time.
Anything in our lives that has no Eternal
value, we should remove, for only
Christ can bring happiness. By living a
“me-centered” life, we will be unhappy;
however, a “God-centered” life will bring
true happiness. For the Lord knows the
way of the righteous, But the way of the
ungodly shall perish.
