Invitation: We would love to have
you come and worship with us.
Maybe you’ve read one or more of
our articles and would like to know
more about us.
We are a small congregation. We
have 2 Methodist Women’s Groups
(day/evening), Youth & Children’s
programs, and a monthly pay-foryour-
own Men’s Steak Night fellowship
gathering. We have Ice Cream
socials and State Park outings complete
with a Pot Luck meal. We enjoy
a monthly, after Sunday church
service, Pot-Luck family meal and
we do fun fund raising “events” for
our Youth Group, for local mission
work and for distant missionary support.
Some of these events include:
a Chili Cook-off contest, a Cake/
Pie sale, special Sunday meals and
a Youth Group Prepared meal. We
have a live & vibrant “Outreach Program”
that checks on our homebound
or ill church family members. We’re
also active in local festival and holiday
events. We would truly love to
have you visit us.
Q: If you’ve travel a little bit, you’ve
probably noticed that some newspapers
don’t have a church “news” section
in them and wondered why not.
This newspaper does & we Greatly
Appreciate that and this opportunity
to “go out into the world…” being
disciples of Jesus.
The Biblical Great Commission
was a divine mandate placed upon
every disciple of Christ to go forth
and make His love known to all.
Matthew 28:16-20 “Then the eleven
disciples went to Galilee, to the
mountain where Jesus had told them
to go. When they saw him, they worshiped
him; but some doubted. Then
Jesus came to them and said, “All
authority in heaven and on earth has
been given to me. Therefore go and
make disciples of all nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father
and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
and teaching them to obey everything
I have commanded you. And
surely I am with you always, to the
very end of the age.”
Mark 16:15 “And He said to them,
‘Go into all the world and proclaim
the gospel to every creature.” Discipleship:
This was a pivotal moment
for the new Christian church. The
Great Commission was/is a command,
not a suggestion. Jesus’ words
are a clear directive that tells us &
emphasizes the mission of the church
(us). We are to spread the Good
News of Jesus and His redemptive
forgiving love. We are to help others
in getting to know Jesus and becoming
committed followers of Him.
We are gratefully blessed to be able
to bring His Good News to you via
this newspaper. Thank you, The
Farmerville Gazette! And we thank
you for reading it. Won’t you please
accept our invitation? Come… worship
with us.

Jerry Mac Allen is retiring from being
Choir Director of Marion First
Baptist Church after twenty-five
years of dedicated service. He was
honored Sunday evening with an
appreciation celebration. Mr. Bobby
Earl Hicks, oldest member of the
choir (93), presented him with an appreciation
plaque.
Jerry Mac led us in some of his favorite
old hymns. We so appreciate
all that he has done in leading our
music program for 25 years. After an
inspiring song service, brother Bubba
brought his message “The Lord’s
Supper”. This has serious and deep
meaning. It commemorates the Lord
bringing the children of Israel out of
Egyptian bondage. They were commanded
to keep an unblemished lamb
in their home for several days and
then to slaughter the lamb and put its
blood on the doorpost of their home.
When the Death Angel came by, the
homes with blood were spared. In
Jesus‘ day, this was celebrated as the
Passover. The evening before Jesus’
crucifixion, this was celebrated with
his disciples in the upper room. The
New Covenant. Jesus promised this
as a new spiritual relationship with
him. The new covenant does not apply
to the unsaved. God’s will is that
I’ll come to him and have eternal life
through Jesus —

  • The New Covenant. G o d
made the covenant with man, so the
partners are an Holy God and sinful
man. He did this because of his great
love for us Ephesians: 2: 1-4 explains
what we were before accepting this
covenant. We were children of the
devil — enemies of God. Verse four
begins with “But God”. If we come
in faith and repentance, we are pardoned.
    His great love and mercy
makes us a part of his covenant. We
are justified and glorified, just as
though we have never sinned. Our
relationship with him is for now and
throughout eternity. We are now sons
and daughters of God, joint heirs
with Jesus. Taking the Lord‘s Supper
is very serious. He warns us not to
    take it unworthily.
We need to examine ourselves for sin
in our life, and repent. How wonderful
that God has offered us a covenant
    relationship with him. After the
    message., we celebrated the Lord‘s
supper. Then we had three precious
    souls baptized.

Colossians 1:20-22 – and by Him to
reconcile all things to Himself. No
matter what you have done, the cross
reminds us, God wants us to return
to Him. It calls us to be reconciled
back with Him; our fellowship can
    be restored.
There is a reconciling power of the
cross. For HE made Him who knew
no sin to be sin for us, that we might
    become the righteousness of God
in Him – Second Corinthians 5:21.
Christ took our place, paying our
sin debt, making peace through the
blood of His cross, HE brought us
back to Himself. “The Cross is the
ultimate evidence that there is no
length the love of God will refuse
    to go in effecting reconciliation.”
    (Anonymous)
His reconciling purpose was to restore
    fellowship with Himself, a
Holy God and a sinful person. For
while we were yet sinners, Christ
died for us – Romans 5:8. Christianity
is God reaching out to man,
because HE loves us. We are here
today, so we can come back to Him,
    completing His work through us.
God always knew Christ would have
to come to remove us from this wicked
life. Ephesians 2:12b – having no
hope and without God in the world.
And you, who once were alienated
and enemies in your mind by wicked
works, yet now He has reconciled in
the body of His flesh through death, to
present you holy, and blameless, and
above reproach in His sight. What
the law could not do, Christ did! At
the cross, Jesus reached out to mankind,
while reaching up to God. It is
up to us, to receive His saving grace
    and then live for Him.
