Lent is a time that should remind us all just how patient God is with us all. Hopefully throughout the year, we haven’t strayed too far from Him. But IF we have, in any way – in any fashion, Lent is the season for truly remembering how blessed we are and remembering that Jesus ALWAYS has His arms open wide, waiting for His prodigal sons and daughters to come home. Are you curious about the profound life lessons embedded in the stories of Jesus? Can you imagine the patience it took to reveal Himself over and over and over through His many talks, His many miracles — the turning water into wedding wine, the feeding of 5,000 people with only 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread given to Him by a young boy in that crowd; the healing of the lame, the blind, leprosy, the raising of Lazarus?
Here are a few more examples of Jesus’ patience and a willingness to do God’s will, not His own…
He was willing to bear temptation after temptation without sinning. Matthew 4:4-11
He was willing to bear evil thoughts against Him. Matthew 9:3-4
He was willing to bear insults. Matthew 11:19
He was willing to bear the fault-finding Pharisees. Matthew 15:1-2
He was willing to bear the slowness of His disciples in understanding ‘lack of faith’. Matthew 15:16 & Matthew 16:8-12
He was willing to bear Peter’s rebuke. Matthew 16:22-23
He was willing to bear the Pharisees who came to test Him. Matthew 19:3-6
He was willing to bear Peter, James and John sleeping instead of praying and watching while
He prayed in the garden. Matthew 26:36-46
He was willing to bear false testimony against Him. Matthew 26:59-63
He was willing to bear being spit on and struck in the face. Matthew 26:67
He was willing to bear Peter’s triple denial. Matthew 26:75
He was willing to bear being humiliated, tortured and crucified. Matthew 27:27-37
Jesus more than exemplifies a level of patience that challenges common beliefs and should inspire us to reflect on our own actions. We absolutely should be transformed by the unwavering patience of the greatest teacher to walk the earth, Christ Jesus. We are called to believe in Him, to follow Him, live like Him, to Love like Him.
What are we willing to bear in the doing of God’s will, not ours? Lord Jesus, thank you for your patience with us.  Thank you for being willing to bear what you did in order to save us from our sin and give us life with you eternally.  In Your name we pray. Amen

Next month will begin the Easter Season, the time we celebrate victory over the thing we fear the most – death. Easter is about victory over sin and the grave. It is about eternal life that is ours through faith in Jesus. It’s about being confident in what God has provided for us!
Luke 22:14-20 records the first Lord’s Supper. As Jesus takes the bread and the wine, he uses both the sight of these common elements and the sound of his voice to communicate truth to his disciples.
He takes the bread and breaks it. He takes the cup and pours it out. His disciples don’t understand it yet, but they are about to witness Jesus Himself be broken and poured out. The very next day, they will witness the fulfillment of what “Breaking” and “Poured Out” mean. And as they do, they will hear His words replaying in their heads: “This is my body,” “This is my blood.”
The Roman cross is one of the cruelest means of execution ever devised, reserved for the worst of the worst. And this is the method of death that God chose to help us understand the concept of what our sin cost. This type of death was the closet thing to Hell on earth that God could use to relate torment with no relief, torment that leads to a desire to die, but no relief ever comes.
On the cross, Jesus is helping us realize how serious sin is, what is owed because of it – what it cost, what was paid.
Why would God send His Son to endure such pain for us? Because of His love for us. Never has there been a greater display of love. Jesus paid the penalty for our sin. “This is my body broken and my blood poured out FOR YOU,” Jesus still tells us.
Accept that gift today for the assured promise of eternal life.
Come worship, praise, serve, and learn with us every Sunday morning at 11. If unable to attend, our services are streamed on our Facebook page, FBC Farmerville, or on Hulu. Bro. Kurt Auger, Pastor; Bro. Ronnie Parks, Minister of Music.

Bro. Bill delivered God’s message from 2 Corinthians 12:9: “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my power is made perfect in weakness.” God’s grace is sufficient for our ever-growing needs. When we have favor, power, love and availability on our side, we can be safe and satisfied by God’s Almighty power. The purpose of His promise is to meet the need of His servant in His time of our trials. Grace fills the gap to turn weakness into strength, ugly into beauty, filth to purity, and hatred into love. His grace is sufficient, for all classes, in all circumstances, to all ages. It is God’s promise of all-sufficiency for: (1) Would-be Christians – those having a guilty conscience, while seeking the Lord. Be of good courage; Salvation is by grace. No matter the number or depth of one’s sin. God’s grace is sufficient for you. By grace are you saved. (2) Young Christians – those new Christians, lately out of sin, and discouraged because of the new way of life, don’t fear. God is the source of supply. (3) Working Christians – those working have more need of strength than the idler. The more work for the Lord, the more we need His grace. (4) Tempted Christians – those that burdens of life bring about despondency. There is victory in the grace of God. (5) Suffering Christians – those not saved from the fire of life (like the Hebrew children) may be saved in the fire. (6) Backsliding Christians – those that are wondering if God will take them back; yes He will and glad to do so. (7) Aged Christians – God will not forsake us when we are old and grey-headed. (8) Dying Christians – The shadows go away when Jesus appears. It is easy to walk through death’s door with Jesus holding your hand. Psalms 23:4 “Yea, thou I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.”

James 1:19 – So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath… All married couples, as well as other family and friends, have disagreements at some time. It is not whether we will, but how we will handle them.
We should ‘tune in’ to what is being said. There is power in the listening ear. Listen before you speak. It is possible to misunderstand what is meant by what is being said. Look at the person speaking and go by their expressions, when they speak. We also should ‘tone down’. Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things…the tongue is like a fire…that defiles the whole body and sets on fire the course of nature…-James 3:5-6. Only God can tame the tongue, a dangerous member of the body. The tongue judges, blaming and condemning our mate, as well as others; it becomes a professor, counselor, correcting or contradicting; historian – reminding of past issues; criticizes – comparing to others, preacher – holier-than-thou attitude.
We should ‘sweeten up’. Do not avoid the problem, nor deny there is one. Do not back off from the issue and be willing to acknowledge, maybe “I” am the problem. Do not practice appeasement yet be willing to compromise. Do not attack before a social even, going to church, before mealtime, etc. Be willing to accommodate, making changes which need to be made. And be willing to accept partner as they are, while making adjustments ourselves, since both need to change. Love bears all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails – 1 Corinthians 13:7-8.
