Jeremiah 17:9-10 “The heart is deceitful
above all things and beyond
cure. Who can understand it?” “I
the Lord search the heart and examine
the mind, to reward each person
according to their conduct, according
to what their deeds deserve.”
Now that we’ve shared camaraderie,
meals and fireworks; are we
still in that joyous celebrating frame
of mind? Are we still “pumped”?
Are we this excited in our worship
of Jesus? Do we prepare for each
Sunday (should be EACH DAY)
with the attention to detail, the expectation
of being lifted up by the
camaraderie of our Pastors and the
folks in our congregations?
Psalms 51:10-12 “Create in me
a pure heart, O God, and renew a
steadfast spirit within me. Do not
cast me from your presence or take
your Holy Spirit from me. Restore
to me the joy of your salvation and
grant me a willing spirit, to sustain
me.”
David, for one, determined in his
heart to “… behave myself wisely
in a perfect way… I will walk within
my house with a perfect heart”
Psalms 101:2. David said that he
would not set worthless things before
his eyes – that he would seek
to remove the impure objects that
could pull his heart away from worshiping
God. This is what we should
do as well. We must be diligent in
recognizing what temptations in
our lives are most likely to lead us
astray. Psalms 101:3 “Whoever
pursues righteousness and kindness
will find life, righteousness, and
honor.” Proverbs 21: 21
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for
they shall see God” Matthew 5:8
This verse highlights the connection
between the heart and outward actions,
emphasizing that a good heart
is the source of good deeds. “Pure
In Heart” can be characterized by
sincerity and singleness of purpose
(following Jesus). If we do so, we
will be blessed and will “see God”…
we will experience His presence in
our lives, His approval, and ultimately,
we will dwell with Him in
eternity.
Luke 6:45 “A good person produces
good things from the treasury of
a good heart… What you say flows
from what is in your heart.”

Pastor Bubba Hoggatt
Jerry Mac’s special “All I Ever
Need” was a great hymn of adoration.
Bro. Bubba’s message “Conformed”
was from Romans 8:24.
When we are saved, God will begin
working on us to conform us to
his Son’s image. Three things must
change. Our desires must change.
We must deny self and die to ourselves.
When we are, He will begin
conforming us. He will change
us from inferior to superior. God
has promised that we will be conformed,
I Corinthians 15:49. What
will change? The characteristics of
Jesus, love, Joy, peace Long suffering,
gentleness, and faith will
become ours. Those will produce
joy in our lives. It is a progressive
journey. We will always sin while
we are here, but we should become
more and more like Jesus. Romans
3: 10.1) It can be happy or unhappy.
John 15: 10As he works out these
things in our lives, it can be a happy
experience. If we resist, or refuse to
give up things that are hindrances, it
can be an unhappy experience. God
will chastise us, or allow things in
our lives to make us change, child
training. First Corinthians 11: 31-
- Let loose and enjoy happiness.2)
it can be glorious or gory. Romans
8:18. What we go through here can’t
compare to the glory we will have.
David is an example of great sin and
his repentance to regain the joy of
his salvation. He went through a
very hard time to get there.3) It can
be deformed or conformed. John 3:
16-18. Life can be terrible without
the joy of Jesus. Continue to be discipled
in the strength and power of
God.

John 6:12 – Gather up the fragments
that remain, so that nothing
is lost. Our God is a God of ‘leftovers’.
In Ephesians 2, we find His
grace: that in the ages to come HE
might show the exceeding riches of
His grace in His kindness toward us
in Christ Jesus. We cannot ‘out sin’
His Grace. It is a gift, not a wage
that is earned. And that is how we
come, for by grace through faith we
are saved, it is a gift of God’s. Not
of works, lest any man boast. Being
with family, can be special; however,
our families are not always as we
would like. Once we give our heart
to Jesus, we have a Christian family,
of which we can be thankful. In
Matthew 12:49 we are told of our
family found in Christ Jesus – And
HE stretched out His hand toward
His disciples and said, “Here are
My mother and My brothers!
We have additional power as seen in
Ephesians 3:14-16 – For this reason
I bow my knees to the Father of our
Lord Jesus Christ… that HE would
grant you, according to the riches
of His glory, to be strengthened
with might through His Spirit. This
power HE gives us so we can overcome
sin in our life. Even so we
also should walk in newness of life
– Romans 6:14. God gives us more
than enough than we even planned.
Second Kings 6:14-17 tells of Elisah’s
encouragement – Do not fear,
for those who are with us are more
than those who are with them. As
we look through the eyes of faith,
we can see God is still working.
