Come…. that’s what Jesus wants us to
do…. come to Him.
We would LOVE for you to come to
church with us.
What better way to get to know Jesus
than through coming to church. Com-
ing to church; worshiping with others
– praying with them — giving help and
solace to each other -– re-acquainting
with old friends — making new ones.
Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three
are gathered together in my name, there
am I in the midst of them.”
Our church is a place where you can
be yourself and be loved for just being
you. We here at Farmerville Methodist
Church try really really hard to love like
Jesus does. Won’t you , Please, come to
church with us? Let the peace of Jesus
come to you. Philippians 4:7 “And the
peace of God, which transcends all un-
derstanding, will guard your hearts and
your minds in Christ Jesus.”
And with the peace of Jesus, you will be
liberated… you will be forgiven for your
sins and you will experience the free-
dom that it brings to your soul. Freedom
from worry, freedom from the judge-
ment of others, free to worship openly,
free to serve God and others as Jesus
asked us to.
Galatians 5:13 “You, my brothers and
sisters, were called to be free. But do
not use your freedom to indulge the
flesh[a]; rather, serve one another hum-
bly with love.”
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where
the Spirit of the Lord is, there is free-
dom.” 2 Corinthians 3:17
Live as free people, but do not use your
freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as
God’s slaves” (doing His will, not our
own) 1 Peter 2:16

Today we focus on three behaviors asso-
ciated with living “The Practical Chris-
tian Life” as laid out by Paul in I Thessa-
lonians 4:9-12.
Lead a quiet, peaceful life. We should
try to get along with one another, to be
a good citizen, a good neighbor. In the
old days, it was called “living the simple
life.”
The world today is in such a big hurry,
competitive, never satisfied. It needs
more and more…more money, more
opportunity, more things. This stands in
contrast to biblical teaching. Jesus said
to seek first the Kingdom of God. Trust
the Lord for the needs of your life, and
He will provide.
The constant need for more divides
homes and communities. It breeds un-
rest and jealousy. Paul says be satisfied
with the blessings you have in life and
slow down. Focus on what is most im-
portant-your relationship with the Lord.
Attend to your own life (mind your own
business). Don’t be a busybody. Don’t
stick your nose into other’s business.
We don’t need to know everything.
The need for more information robs us
of quality time. Set that stuff aside and
spend time with God and your family.
The need to know everything can also
bombard us with negativity, leading to
living in fear, anger, unrest, frustration,
and jealousy. Quit worrying about ev-
eryone else and focus on you and your
family.
Paul says, “Work with your hands.”
Strive to provide for yourself. Some in
the church had become so focused on the
return of Jesus that they had neglected
their jobs and were becoming a burden
on others.
Notice that Paul was not talking about
the elderly or those with health prob-
lems. He was speaking to those who
were able yet comfortable living off the
labor of others.
In his second letter to the Christians in
Thessalonica, Paul says that those who
do not work do not eat. It is not wise
to become dependent on others. That
behavior leads to all kinds of unrest
and problems. Able-bodied Christians,
above all others, should be productive
with their lives.
Paul reiterated in verse 12 that if we live
a quiet life, mind our own business, and
work to provide for ourselves, we are
more likely to get along with others and
not suffer need. God’s ways are always
the best ways.

Pastor Bubba Hoggatt
Jesse’s offertory selection “ He “was
beautiful. Jerry Mac really set the tone
for worship with his special, ” The
Shepherd’s Point of View”. Brother
Bubba‘s message was Isaiah 53. The Bi-
ble is amazing. The entire Bible is God
breathed. Some deny its truth. Some try
to destroy it. Some believe. God‘s word
never returns void. It comforts. It helps
Christians grow. It condemns sinners.
The unsaved are condemned already.
They can be forgiven only by trusting in
the shed blood of
Jesus. Jesus’ sacrifice is very clear in Isa-
iah 53. The Old and New Testaments all
point to Jesus. When Jesus bled and died
on the cross, he paid for all man’s sins.
Those spending eternity in Hell have had
their sins paid. They just refused to ac-
cept it. Just as all the prophecies of Jesus’
coming have been fulfilled, the prophe-
cy, that he will come again, will also be
fulfilled. We are commanded to observe
the Lord‘s Supper “ till he comes”. Fol-
lowing brother Bubba‘s message, we
celebrated The Lord’s Supper. P r a y
for our children and their leaders as they
will be at camp this week.

Associate Pastor Stephen Murry
Over 3000 years ago, it was determined
there would be unrest. In this world of
turmoil, our hope for peace is the com-
ing of the Prince of Peace, prophesied
in Isaiah 9:6 – For unto us a Child is
born, unto us a Son is given … Prince
of Peace.
Isaiah 26:3 – You will keep him in per-
fect peace, whose mind is stayed on
You, because he trusts in You. Not po-
sitions, possessions, or even recreation,
but Christ Jesus is our source of peace.
One Name removes anger and hostility
and replaces Peace – “Christ Jesus”. HE
can turn turmoil into tranquility; chaos
into comfort. We learn about the source
of peace in His Word – the Bible. Turn
your life over to Christ; you will need
look no further. Some will have a season
of peace; however, perfect peace which
lasts, can only be found in Christ Je-
sus. This peace comes, not as the world
brings, but when we turn our life over
to Him. HE is our source of peace. The
secret to peace: Christians abiding in
the shadow of the Almighty, as we rely
on Him for protection. HE cares for us,
even when we cannot care for ourselves.
Psalm 23:4 – Your rod and You staff,
they comfort me. Trusting the LORD,
we can find rest, no matter what is hap-
pening in our lives.
Do we believe what HE says, no matter
what? We can rest in Him. Unconfessed
sins, sins we have not forgiven ourselves
for, burdens too hard to bear … bring
these all to Christ Jesus. HE will forgive
sin, and bring peace into our lives. HE IS
the PRINCE OF PEACE.
