Sunday was Father’s Day and we were
blessed with many Fathers at church.
The youngest father was Dillion Cox
and the oldest was Ed Hall.
Bro Aleck asked several questions in his
sermon Sunday. What do you aspire to
be for the Lord? Are you willing to be
stretched for God? Are you willing to
let God use you? Are you willing to be
uncomfortable for God? Are you willing
to stand alone for the Lord; even in your
own home? Stand strong for Jesus! Matthew
3:7-12

Rev. Hank Hamilton
What does God say about our relationships?
The Bible teaches that love is
the foundation of all relationships, and
that love should be characterized by
selflessness, kindness, and forgiveness.
Ephesians 4:2 “With all humility and
gentleness, with patience, bearing with
one another in love. Make every effort to
keep the unity of the Spirit through the
bond of peace.”
And to keep the peace in the unity of two
people who are joined as one through
matrimony we are told that love is “the
tie that binds”. Colossians 3:14 “And
over all these virtues put on love, which
binds them all together in perfect unity.”
In real-life relationships you won’t, realistically,
be united 24/7. “You don’t
have to be positive all the time. It’s perfectly
okay to feel sad, angry, annoyed,
frustrated, scared, or anxious. Having
feelings doesn’t make you a ‘negative
person’. It makes you human.” Says
Lori Deschene, author and founder of
Tiny Buddha in 2009… founded to deal
with her own depression and a serious
eating disorder (physical and emotional
issues). Ms. Deschene shares stories
and insights from her own life struggles
and from her global reading audience
because she believes that we all have
something to teach and something to
learn. Ms.Deschene and her participating
audience share ways of reflecting on
simple wisdoms & learning ways to let
go of pain and worry and let happiness
in.
While we applaud the introspection and
lessons-learned approach to healing,
peace and happiness; we sincerely hope
that some of the wisdom Ms. Deschene
shares with others is gained from and
inspired by the Bible… from the knowledge
of and the acceptance of God’s
overflowing love for each of us and for
the amazing grace he showers upon us.
Philippians 4:7 describes a peace from
God that is so profound and complete
that it cannot be fully grasped by human
intellect or emotion. “And the peace of
God, which surpasses all understanding,
will guard your hearts and your minds
in Christ Jesus.” What more could one
want?
If you follow Jesus and gain this other-
worldly peace; remember that Jesus
highlighted the importance of the closest
relationship ever, marriage, by quoting
Genesis 2:24 in Matthew 19:4-6, stating
that a man leaves his family to be joined
to his wife, becoming “one flesh”. This
signifies a unified and permanent union.
1 Peter 4:8 “Above all, love each other
deeply, because love covers over a
multitude of sins.” This emphasizes the
importance of love, suggesting that it
can overcome/forgive imperfections and
conflicts in relationships/marriages. 1
Corinthians 16:14 “Let all that you do be
done in love”

Pastor Bubba Hoggatt
The choir sang the uplifting “ Death was
Arrested” for their special. Bro. Bubba”s
message was “A Godly Father”. Ephesians
6 To make his points, he used an
acrostic. FATHER.
Faithfulness. Ephesians 6:16.
Children need to see faithfulness in the
life of their father. Satan and his demons
want to destroy families. Children need
to see parents, depending on God and
leaning on him for guidance. They need
to see parents sharing the gospel with
others.
Authority. Ephesians 6: 14
Fathers are the protector and authority
that keeps families from falling apart.
Decisions you make may not be popular,
but will be appreciated years later. Stand
strong.
Teacher. Ephesians 6:17.
Children look to you to learn respect. Be
their father, not their friend.
Teach things of God. Look for opportunities
to teach things about God in every
day activities. Satan makes temptations
look good and fun. Fill your children
with God‘s Word to use as a weapon.
Humility. Ephesians 6: 18.
The humble person prays a lot. The
proud man doesn’t think he needs God‘s
help. Your family needs to see you pray.
Pray with them before starting on any
venture
Encouragement. Ephesians 6:18.
To every word of encouragement, your
children receive, they receive nine
words of discouragement. Persevere in
finding good things your children do,
and encourage them. The greatest encouragement
is to point them toward
Jesus and salvation
Restorer. Ephesians 6:15.
Children are in termoil. Satan is throwing
all kinds of negative things at them
through friends, social media and enemies.
They often are broken when they
do something we do not approve. They
need to know they are still loved and can
learn from mistakes. They are better than
before the experience. They need to feel
forgiveness from parents and know God
also forgives.

Associate Pastor Stephen Murry
Fathers hold the keys to the preservation
of the family – James Dobson. Fatherhood
is more than biological, emotional,
physical, recreational. It more importantly
– Spiritual. Luke 8:40-56 – there
came a man named Jairus, and he was a
ruler of the synagogue. Jarius, a ruler in
the synagogue, respected in the community,
devote believer, was first – a father.
Fathers and granddads, you are first a
father.
As a father, Jarius hoped Jesus was a
healer. Jarius risked his reputation for
the sake of his child. Dads, you can understand
that. And he fell down at Jesus’
feet … When was the last time you fell at
Jesus’ feet to pray for your child? There
were obstacles to overcome: Jesus was
delayed, causing Jarius to possibly panic;
denial that Jesus was even interested;
doubt coming when the child died and
hope is gone. Opposition followed with
laughter, that Jesus could do this. Are
you willing to do whatever it takes to get
your child to Jesus? Are you willing to
pay the cost? You get them to the events,
but trophies will not get them to Heaven.
Their greatest need is not physical
but spiritual. The only way to get them
into Eternity is faith in Jesus Christ.
Men should stand in the gap, placing a
hedge of protection around their families.
Hope came to the ‘hopeless’ – HE
… saying, “Little girl, arise.” Then her
spirit returned, and she arose immediately.
Fathers, if you lead your children to
the LORD, they will always have Him.
Is your family closer to Jesus, because
of you? You can bring Jesus to them, so
they can choose. It is your choice!
