Carbon Capture Credits Remain Subject of Debate

Carbon capture credits continue to draw debate as supporters promote them as a tool to reduce emissions and critics question their cost, safety and long-term effectiveness.

Carbon capture is a process in which carbon dioxide is collected from industrial plants or power facilities before it is released into the atmosphere. The gas is then transported, often by pipeline, and stored underground or used in certain industrial applications. Carbon capture credits are government incentives intended to encourage investment in that process.
