The Power of Prayer. Reprint of a FB post from Susie Halley – written by Patti Dodd Odom 10-14-2026.
Please lift us up in prayer daily. Trees of Righteousness Community Outreach
When you think about Trees of Righteousness Community Outreach, the first thing that may come to mind might be “thrift store” and “great deals.”
For those of us who are actively involved at Trees, those terms come to mind, but other words such as “broken,” “sadness,” “hurting” and “struggling” come quickly to mind.
While some come to shop, there are many others who come through the door looking for something that cannot be bought.
One thing that cannot be bought is prayers. Yesterday we had several who came specifically asking for prayers. One such person was dealing with debilitating pain and came purposefully asking for prayers for relief from pain. We prayed with him, and he returned today saying he feels so much better.
Another person came specifically asking for release from something that was controlling their life. He walked in the front door with the desire to be prayed for.
They come every day one after another needing prayer, needing someone to see them, someone to listen to their pain.
Trees of Righteousness is much more than a thrift store. It is a hospital for the broken, the hurting, the homeless, the drug addict, that drunken person coming in literally off the street.
I am one of those broken people. I lost my husband unexpectedly from a situation that should never have happened. As I see my sister, Susie Halley, pray with those who need it, I find myself feeling their hurts. I understand hurt, loss and feeling powerless to stop the pain. My sister steps up daily to pray for others. It is not a prayer to put on a show. It is prayer with deep desire to lead them to Christ.
When God leads me to pray with these individuals, I follow His prompting. That one little prayer is more powerful than a single person realizes. That prayer gives an individual hope, to feel the love of Christ and a sense of belonging.
We ask that you pray for us often as the “fields are ripe for harvest.” John 4:35.
Patti Dodd Odom
Question: Does this earnest & open call for prayers touch any hearts? … and maybe, just maybe, spur us Christians to actually be bigger and better “hands-on” Hands & Feet of Jesus Christ? Mark 10:45 “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Jesus’ example of selfless service to others is THE role-model for our own lives. Go – help others … Go – Pray for others

“The Final Word”
Our focus turns to Apostle Paul’s closing words in 2 Corinthians 13:11–13. Rather than issuing a simple list of tasks to complete, Paul emphasizes who the Church is in Christ, highlighting that a proper understanding of Christian identity naturally shapes how believers live.
Examining the original Greek context reveals a deeper meaning behind three key phrases:
“Be comforted” goes beyond mere relief from discouragement; it calls for submission to the Lord. By trusting God’s plan, believers allow Him to work in their lives, shaping them into useful instruments for His Kingdom.
“Be single minded” refers to a shared identity and common focus rooted in God’s
Word. True fellowship develops as believers ground their lives and direction in Scripture.
“Live in peace” points to a unified, undivided purpose. When believers submit to God and anchor their identity in Christ, they live with a single heartbeat and goal: advancing the Kingdom of God.
Ultimately, Paul reminds the church that joyful contentment and unity flow from knowing who we are in Christ. Because God demonstrated His love by sending Jesus to pay a price humanity could never afford, believers are called to grow, serve, and live as the Body of Christ together—not for self-interest, but for God’s greater purpose.
As we reflect on these final words, we are left to consider: Are our hearts submitted to Christ? Are our minds guided by His Truth, and are our lives attuned with His purpose today?
Join us every Sunday for worship at 11 am, 400 No. Main. If unable to attend, you may stream services on our Facebook page, FBC Farmerville, or on Roku. Pastor – Bro. Kurt Auger; Associate Pastor – Bro. James David Miller; Choir Director – Bro. Ronnie Parks.

Rejection, Dejection and Defection. Scripture Passage: I Samuel 3:1-21
When we witness or lead a Christian life we should not take rejection personally. Jesus said the world hates Him and that it will hate His followers also. Whoever we are and whatever we do, our everyday life is our mission field. We should live so others know we are Christians.
Courage In the Will of God. I Samuel 3:11-21
When Samuel was still a child, God told him that He was going to do away with the line of Eli as priesthood because of Eli’s sons iniquity and their defilement of the priesthood and because Eli was not correcting their conduct. Samuel obeyed Eli when he told him to tell him what God had told him. This took courage. God killed Eli’s two sons and Eli himself was killed when he fell off a wall after hearing of the death of his sons.
Continuance In the Word of God 1 Samuel 3:19, 21
We cannot discover all the truths in the Bible, but we should keep studying it to try. We should use our Bible, God’s Word, as our measure for right and wrong and how we should live. The Word of God can defeat Satan’s lies. We can be powerful Christians if we use the Word of God. Samuel was remembered in death as a man of God.
Compassion In the Wandering From God. 1 Samuel 8:3-8
The nation of Israel wanted to be like the other nations around them. They wanted to be ruled by a king. Samuel was angry and sad that Israel was rejecting God. God told Samuel not to hold it against them. He told Samuel that Israel was not rejecting Samuel, but rather they were rejecting God Himself. Satan wants us to reject God and become dejected because of this and to defect from God.

Job 19:23-28 – Oh, that my words were written! Oh, that they were inscribed in a book! (Oh, but they would be, Job!) Job does wonder, “Is life a joke”? Job, a man was blameless and upright… who feared God and shunned evil. So, what went wrong? Job became broken – physically, his family, possessions. GOD still had everything under control!
For I know that my Redeemer lives … Job, believed written before any book in the Bible, already knew – And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father – John 1:14. His faith was already in the One to come, and never wavered. And after my skin is destroyed, this I know, that in my flesh I shall see God. Job already was confidant of the day he would be with God – his corruptible body would be incorruptible; his mortal body would be immortal.
And Christ will return … and HE shall stand at last on the earth. At that time Christ will reign. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also – John 14:3. And every knee shall bow, of those in Heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father – Philippians 2:10,11. Never fear – GOD Is Still In Control!
