I am writing this from Cancun, Mexico. After so many trips down here chasing the Mayans across Yucatan I had a new experience. I spent the day in a hospital. After becoming so ill I fell, hit my head and got my first ride in an ambulance. Everyone involved were amazing. The young doctor who saw me at the hotel to the ER staff to the CT scan team and all the people in between were fantastic. I knew this was going to be special when the ambulance crew stayed with Bonnie and me for two hours. The head EMT came over to my bed and with tears in his eyes he said he wanted to thank me for the service I did for my country. He had told Bonnie that the only thing he had wanted to do in life was to be a soldier. We take so much for granted in our beautiful country.
The history of Cancun Medical is not simply a study of the medical industry but a study of a new society. In 1969 Cancun was founded by the Mexican government. The year before Cancun came into existence the entire area was plantation land and only a handful of people lived there.
