Q: Are You Ready? Ready for Sunday night church? Ready for dinner? Ready for a date? The real question Jesus is asking is; Are You Ready to be with Him in Heaven? Mark 13:32 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is.” 

Sometimes we might think we have a vague clue as “to when”… as in the case of a life-threatening illness. But generally speaking, we have ‘Not a Clue’. And even through an expected sad outcome; we are told by God to ‘Not worry’. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6 

The Philippians verse is very well suited for the season of Lent when we often “request” God’s forgiveness for our sins as we repent of them. But; shouldn’t we be requesting God’s forgiveness almost daily for any transgressions that we may have made… in order to “Be Ready” – to be Saved and to be allowed to enter heavens’ gate “by the grace of God? (Epphesians 2:8) 

“Though the vision tarry, wait for it; it will surely come.” Habakkuk 2:3 “And all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” Romans 3:24 

We do know that “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” Ecclesiastes 3:1 Knowing this, we need to stay focused on Jesus and what He wants from us. Jesus emphasized loving God completely, as stated in Matthew 22:37-38. He also wants us to love others as we love ourselves. If we can manage these; “… the grace of God… offers salvation to all people.” Titus 2:11 

Through the seasons of your life, do not worry about God’s timing. The gospel song “Four Days Late” by Karen Peck & New River conveys a powerful message about faith and divine timing. The song tells the story of Mary and Martha waiting for Jesus to heal their brother Lazarus, emphasizing that even when it seems like Jesus is delayed, His timing is perfect. Faith in Him brings hope and restoration. The song also tells us that God’s timing may differ from our wants or expectations. It also encourages us to hold on to our faith — even through seemingly hopeless situations; reminding us that we are not alone. 

“In Him and through faith in Him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.” – Ephesians 3:12

A Bold Christian Presence – 2 Corinthians 10:1-7 

There are times for meekness and gentleness, but there are times when boldness is required. Three characteristics are evident in the life of a committed Christian: courage, confidence and conviction. 

The Apostle Paul understood that having courage sometimes meant he had to stand alone. But he had learned something else. When he took a stand, others would soon join him. The church is to be bold and courageous when taking a stand against those who oppose the Truth of God’s Word. 

Paul’s courage came from his confidence. Paul believed he had everything he needed to take a stand, but his confidence was not in himself alone. His confidence was in the Lord Jesus Christ. In verses 2-3, he says he doesn’t war against lies and deceit with his own human limitations, but he wars in Christ. 

As a whole, most in the Church today do not live with complete confidence in Christ our Savior. We don’t witness, serve, lead, instruct or stand as we should. Why? Because we too often look only to ourselves. 

We don’t understand who we are in Christ. We have deprived ourselves of really knowing God through His Word. God’s Word is the food that strengthens, the light that gives clear direction, the sword that allows us to fight life’s battles. 

Set your heart and mind on God, feed on His Word and follow Him. This is how a child of God becomes a bold man or woman of faith with godly courage, confidence and conviction.

Bro. Bubba’s sermon was “Heaven’s Firefighters”. 

There are Biblical lessons to be learned from those fighting the recent fires in our area. 

In Matthew 16: 14-18 Jesus was not saying Peter was the one who the church will be built upon, but Christ himself. The church is eternal. Satan will never destroy it, though he will try. 

FireDestroys. 

Some congregations may become divided, that is why God provides heavenly firefighters. Satan will never be satisfied as long as one person has not accepted Christ as savior. Hell was not created for people, but swallows up people who reject Christ. Hell enlarges itself. 

Isaiah.5:4. Fire Divides. 

The church must put little fires out so no division occurs. When fighting fires the water tanker must be refilled. We can get this refilling from guidance of the Holy Spirit, who trains us to know how to put out the fire. We must be together in goals, motives, and encouragement to not become divided. 

Fire Defines. James.1:2. 

We must endure temptation. To be a firefighter we must be overcomers and fight, no matter what it takes, to avoid division in our church. We must be obedient, not bossy, but listening to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We must be more than observers who watch and do nothing but give opinions to those fighting. We definitely don’t want to be an opposer to those who have been trained by the Holy Spirit, saying do this and do that while doing nothing. What kind of firefighters are we? Are we overcomers and obedient, or do we merely observe and be in opposition to those fighting? We can’t bring others to Jesus when our church is divided.

Culture has sure changed: churches were full; public school prayer; doors left unlocked in homes without fear … Today: Many children have never been inside a church; no group prayer in schools; doors locked in homes; no meaningful relationship, desiring a traditional family. All about immediate gratification; something for nothing without cost or condition; welfare mentality, believing it is ’owed’ to one; guilt-free living… The answer is found in Ephesians 1:7 – In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace. 

In Him is where we find our answers. We have a relationship with others, for it is not good to be alone; within ourselves; upward with God through Christ, God’s only Son. We are valuable, because HE sent Christ to die for us – Colossians 1:27 …Christ in you, the hope of Glory. Christ offers redemption, providing Eternal life with Him. We will never walk alone. HE offers life through His blood, a free gift of salvation. Sin costs! For without shedding of blood there is no remission – Hebrews 9:22. 

There is no such thing as ‘guilt-free living’. Christ, however, provides forgiveness of sins. We are convicted we have sinned and then repent – If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness – First John 1:9. There is no end to God’s Grace – according to the riches of His grace – God’s Riches at Christ’s Expense! The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit, that we are children of God, and if children, then… joint heirs with Christ… that we may also be
