Once July 4 settles, other days unfold

By: Sallie Rose Hollis

With all the hoopla over America’s 250th birthday – which is so truly deserved – I’m a little worried that some other July “days” may get lost in all the festivities.

For example, did you celebrate World Chocolate Day on July 7? I didn’t. So shame on me. But maybe I made up for it because I did consume half a Chocolate Molten on July 2. Who’s going to quibble about a couple of days?

Actually, a few days have already passed that I’m sure the world is glad I missed: National Bikini Day on July 5. I successfully avoided National Workaholics Day that day as well.

I’m glad, though, that I tipped my hat to Barbershop Music Appreciation Day on Monday with a post on social media. My new chorus, Southern A’Chord, sings barbershop and other four-part a cappella pieces.

And be sure to mark your calendars for National Peach Ice Cream Day on Friday – followed by plain old National Ice Cream Day on Sunday. Surely gaieties are in order.
